Need to get some new tyres for the zed before AR7.5 (or whatever it's called).

Where's good (and where should we avoid) in Cardiff and thereabouts?

errmm.. sorry cant help on that, appart from Bevans, and a few other second hand bike shops about.. THOUGH, if you wanted tyres and can find someone to fit them, I think if you ask Andy in the HG shop, he may be able to help...
Theres also Thunder road up Bridgend way, or if you are willing to Travel, theres Paul Green Tyres up my way, hes usualy very good with tyres... and will give you a good opinion on what tyres to choose from, plus if he aint got it, he can order it in.. hes also open on saturdays to mid-day...
