Select Reverse Gear...............
Ignore the motorcyclist in the motorcycles only parking bay and proceed to flatten him with utmost predjudice!!
This was my wee event for the day. I decided to go up to HG and get some knee sliders, not because I'm making any purposeful attempt to get the knee down, just wanted some knee armour in the vent of an off. So I pull up into the motorcyle bay outside HG, full power ranger suit and shiney lid, headlight and indicators all on. Next thing I'm half getting off the bike when I see the reverse lights come on, the car starts moving and keeps comming. Now at this point i decide, a wee toot on the horn might be in order here. So I thumb the horn ".......!!?" where's ma effin' horn when I need it. So idecide to put the knuckle armour to good use and give the back window a good wrap. By this point he's just got his bumper onto my front wheel. So he stops and gets out and the first thing he says? The punchline we all hate..... " I didnae see you there" The best bit was a guy and his wife were about to go into HG he stood and watched the whole thing in complete disbelief. He got a good laugh as I stood in the middle of the street sounding off about, "What part of this power ranger suit and all the fl;ashing lights could you not see in your mirror?" Then the best bit, that makes you wonder why you even bother. He says " I can't see out my back window because of the blacked out glass" The mind boggles. Still didn't get all angry and stuff, just advised he should be more vigilant especially for bikes. Got the sliders and headed off back out and down the west coast for a wee trip. Cheers. |
Re: Select Reverse Gear...............
His tint was probably illegal!

Re: Select Reverse Gear...............
i know this is more about him not looking about, but i didnt think there were any laws governing the tints on the rear windows of cars etc... (rear of the front passenger/drivers windows and windscreen) considering buses have them covered up with big sticker advert things, cars towing caravans, lorries having a trailer attached, vans just not even have back windows??

Re: Select Reverse Gear...............
Yeah, I reckon you're right Malks, on the tint being specific to front screen and fron side windows. His window wasn't tinted. He had quite a deep rear window on the tailgate. The bottom half I'd say, was blackened glass. So he could see out the top half , IF and it's a big IF, he bothered to look.
We all make mistakes and luckily I wasn't hurt and neither my SV nor his car got damaged. That's the main thing as far as I am concerned. I did hang around the entrance to HG just to make sure he didn't bump the bike on his way out ;) |

The horn on a pointy is "up BEHIND the radiator and in front of the front cylinder head. Really tucked away to hold back the sound and keep it toasty to the point of siezing itself silent. To remove it, get a 12mm ring spanner (preferably a ratchet one) and you can undo the bolt that holds the bracket (read strip of steel) and the horn. You CAN do this through the Suzuki lowers (if fitted) even with a non-ratchet job. I popped the bolt back in and nipped it up tight - you never know, I might want to use it again. As you can see from my pic, the mounting strip (bracket) can then be fastened to the lower radiator bold (10mm) and a very short extension lead connected. http://forums.sv650.org/<a href="htt...vedhornrd8.jpg[/IMG] After this, the horn will sound better, well mainly a little louder (couldn't really be any worse!) and it won't go silent because of the heat. Incidentally, depending on where you hold it whilst tightening the radiator bolt, it also provides some extra front cylinder protection in the same way as the crud flap. I'm still gonna replace the little sod though." Garry:cool: __________________ |

Cheers for the info Garry.I suspected it was a heat issue.I'll get round to moving it sometime soon I think.Took a trip up to Inveraray today and tested the horn a few times, seemed to be OK.Although I wouldn't want a repeat of the other day, especially in a situation where you have no alternate means of getting somebody elses attention.Cheers
