Sure it's deffo petrol and not oil?

If you overfill the oil it can vent into the airbox via the crankcase breather.

Re: Help - Petrol In The Air Filter.

I always find something *like* petrol sloshing/glooping around in the bottom of the airbox on my curvy. The crankcase breathers vent into the airbox and the oil vapour has to condense somewhere. As the lighter, more volatile fractions will be coming off the oil, they'll be petrol-like in smell.

That's my idea. Sounds normal. Don't worry!

Yep, it;s normal, unless there's gallons of it of course. Some sprays back out of the carbs while the engine's running.
