Retro fitting an oil cooler to a curvey
I'm thinkin gof trying to fit an oil cooler to my bike, since the cam swap i find it gets hot quicker but not to the point of overheating, just the fan kicks in sooner. Also surely it would help prolong engine life, keeping the oil cooler would make it work better right?
I've seen an adapter some were (i think JHS) which srcews on to the oil fileter thread giving a feed/return for a cooler but do any of the GSXR or bandit family cooler setups fit? |

Found the cooler kit on JHS's website
Just want the adapter though http://www.jhsracing.co.uk/archive/e...oler_small.jpg http://www.jhsracing.co.uk/archive/e...ler_fitted.jpg |

Re: Retro fitting an oil cooler to a curvey
I'm told (though can't say from experience) that the locations for the take-offs are actually present on the curvy, so perhaps modifying the standard cases to use the K3 setup would be doable? I'm not personally convinced it's worth the money or the hassle, myself, but I've been wrong before. I did nearly get one once, just because I thought it was cool.
You can get some brilliant twisted logic going from, ahem, one of the major sellers of SV tuning parts, on this subject: "I'm thinking of getting your 700 cc kit your stage 2 cams, and the oil cooler, is that a good setup?" "Yes" "Good for reliability?" "Yes" "All worthwhile fitting?" "Yes." "OK." A week passes "OK, I still want the 700cc kit and cams, but now I can't afford the oil cooler, is that still a good idea?" "Yes" "Just as good for reliability?" "Yes" "Ok, so, why were you recommending I get the oil cooler?" No answer  |
Re: Retro fitting an oil cooler to a curvey
I did wonder if the 2 bit next to the filter were for oil cooler take offs ;)
