Weird new cameras at Hanger Lane

Does anyone know what those strange new cameras are on the A40 at Hanger Lane?

They're set way up in the air and are large banks of about 8 individual cylindrical cameras.

They look similar to some SPECS cameras but are not painted yellow and I couldn't see a second bank of them to calculate average speed.

Are they ANPR?

Anyone know?

Anyone?

Anyone?

Specs do not need two lots, thats a myth.

Specs lock onto your front numberplate and take an average speed over a larger distance to normal GATSO's. Not between the two posts. You often see Specs on their own, for example heading out of notts towards bingham and around newark.

They cant get bikes anyway :D

SPECS cameras measure the elapsed time between 2 positions - there is ALWAYS more than one set - otherwise how would they measure the elapsed time?

I know they can't get bikes :), but I also drive a car from time-to-time.

These cameras at Hanger Lane are unlike anything I've ever seen.

Not just hanger lane, I've started to see them everywhere.

Some can I think, they just turn the cameras round and read rear number plates. I think there are(were??) some like this on the A2 roadworks. (Could be totally wrong there though)

I can assure you they dont need two positions, they can measure average speed over 100m according to an engineer I know who used to install them.

There are also at least 5 on the outskirts of nottingham positioned on their own, which dont have a 2nd position.

I'm sure they would'nt put 1 camera post up if they couldnt work in this way.

I'm more than aware of what google brings up. Google also bring up that george bush is really an alien from mars trying to take over the world which is not exactly 100% accurate ;) as he isnt an alien from mars.

The fact is SPECS are often positioned on their own (there are several around here), an engineer who spents years installing them says they work like this, which you would expect otherwise they wouldnt have installed them on their own in the first place.
