Chain & Sprocket advice required.

Going to be doing the C&S at the end of the month. (2001 S)

1. Reccomendations for the best place (cheap) to buy on 'tinterweb.

2. What size sprockets? Not interested in high top mph (as long as it still hits 100ish on motorways) as I mostly ride in town but I also don't want to end up with a wheelie monster!

Cheers.

i have 15 45 on mine. works really nicely. wheelies easily, and still have decent top end (136). i did have 14 45, but that was a bit silly. really spinny. very very good for wheelies, but also vey very easy too loose license with. on dualcarriageways as well it ran out of steam a bit

I changed mine a couple of weeks ago. Went from a standard 15/44 on my K3 Pointy S to 15/46. From a post someone else put up on the resultant change in drive ratio this gives a 4.5% (ish) increase in acceleration. Going 14/44, the other popular option it seems, gives 7.1%. So it's a boost but nothing too severe. Noticeable though.

I went through B&C Express following some posts on here:

JT Steel (pattern) sprockets
DID X-Ring Gold 525 Pitch 110 Links

Came to about £80 delivered I believe.

The 15/45 is a nice mod on the S model - makes it seem a bit less "lethargic" :)

I followed Baph's advice, which is to phone them as they are very knowledgeable and will talk you through it much better than trying to make head or tails of all the catalogue numbers on the website.

They offer a standard chain/sprocket set deal at £85 I think, but the guy checked and putting what I wanted through separately was cheaper.
