Sounds a bit expensive I'd say considering a brand new one is only a few hundred quid more? Still if its as good as new and from a dealer then it's probably about right. All I'd say is be aware of the engine braking, it isn't anything to be afraid of just aware of!

When you come to release the clutch after a downchange, the driven wheels try to turn the engine.

The harder the engine is to turn, the greater the engine breaking.

The SV engine is quite hard to turn, so it has a lot.

This can lock the back wheel unless you 'blip' the throttle during the downchange clutch release. This helps prevent the locking, and also sounds cool.

Just a quick burst of revs.

it is a fine art that comes with practice and time.

When you are changing down the gear box, say for instance approaching a set of lights that are on red, if you knock down the gears and release the cluch too quickly you can lock the rear wheel, (engine breaking.)

So with a bit of practice and timing, pull in the clutch and then simultaniously knock down the gear lever to go down the gears and "flick" your right wrist adding rpm to the engine to meet the higher rpm that would be produced after leeting the clutch out by the lower gear you are in, thus stopping the locking up problem.

The easy way I was tought the principal was eg..... if you are doing 30mph in 3rd you will be doing 5000rpm. if you are doing 30mph in 2nd you will be doing 7000rpm. So all you are trying to do is match the rpm for the correct gear.

It takes a bit of practice but when you get it right as mentioned before, it sounds cool, and stops any locking up antics!

Hope this helps.

congrats on passing ya test ;)

as others have said watch for teh engine braking being a v-twin it has lots!
others have explained the "blipping" way to deal with it,just make sure the clutch is in when you blip!

you'll do it anyway cos it sounds fooking ace!:smt077
