Wasps!!!

The one and only time this year I ride home without my neck scarf and I get stung by a feckin wasp!!!

Riding home yesterday up through Glenfarg. I thought I was hit by a bit of gravel from the car in front. Ouch that was sore. Seconds later - feck that was REALLY sore...seconds later that was REALLY REALLY sore. I'm like WTF this is getting sorer my the minute. So...gets home take off lid and looks in mirror. this wasp is stinging my neck like a lttle ******* and my neck is like a huge big blister. Seconds later wasp dead...I'm feeling dizzy and sick. Thankfully my next door neighbours are both GPs so I nip round as my neck and the side of my face is swelling up by the second. Sorted a few mins later.

Tell you what...I've had broken bones that were less sore than this. I've never felt pain like it.

Happened to me when I was about 11 or 12 sitting on top of my mums back garden fence.
Felt somethin on my neck and brushed it away with my hand to discover it was a wasp.
It stung me on the neck and it started to swell, my mum gave me some anti histamines then went to casualty just in case but by the time I got there the swelling had eased.
Definately a sore experience

Bad luck mate - put ammonia directly on the stings, buy in a wee sting stick at any chemist.

Stinks but it works a treat and the sting will disappear twice as quickly. Works a treat for mosquito bites as well.

I just escaped the same the other day when I flipped the visor up for a few seconds and got one stuck between the lining and my face. Must have been the wrong way round stinging my lining, or it was too much in shock to do anything!

vinegar is supposed to work on bee stings so I presume wasp stings are the same. had a few kids at school stung (and might I say they made less fuss than you stuarty lol but they are 5 years old)

I'm not sure but something deep in my memory with bee stings and wasp stings, one is acidic and the other is alkaline, so a treatment for one would be bad for the other. Or this could just be total ******** and I'm thinking of something else entirely. Can't be arsed to google it.

A row!

Col - you're right its acid for one and caustic soda for the other. But who thinks these things up?

KK - I reserve my right to be a whingeing man ;)

I wouldn't be putting caustic soda on anything!!! Wee bit strong! However, Bicarbonate of soda, being alkali, will neutralise the acid in the sting.

You should have seen the wasp. It was the size of a volkswagen beetle. The sting was eleven feet long and it had magnets on its wings. It had four ears - two for listening with and two as backup ears. Insetad of a mouth it had four arses. Man it was sore!
