Tax question
Was wondering if there are any tax gurus here as I'm curious about something. I have been earning fairly good money since april - enough to go into the 40% higher tax band. I am now leaving the country, meaning that my total gross pay for this tax year will be less than the 40% threshold (as I won't be earning any more money in the uk). So does this mean i'll be entitled to a rebate?? If so....do I need to do anything to get the rebate as I will not be in the country come April 2008, or is it sorted automatically?
Advice welcome! Thanks Luke |
Re: Tax question
Why not give them a ring? I've called them a few times and they are actually quite helpful.
I believe you need to continue paying a small amount each month whilst out the country to make sure your eventual state pension is not reduced, (though I doubt there will be such a thing when you retire to be honest), and maybe to keep your NHS entitlement? |
Re: Tax question
Hi Luke,
There's a form you need to fill in saying you wont be a UK resident for a while, once you've done that (and changed your address (possibly another form)) they sort out the rebate automatically. |
