Little problem, high tickover & slight misfire

Nothing major, but the bike idles at 2000rpm, when I lower the idle ( by using clutch) it starts misfiring slightly. It has an ART can fitted, don't know if it makes any difference. The bike is how I bought it, I've not done any mods and I don't know what else has been done to it. Any ideas?

Have you tried turning the tickover down using the adjuster?

I have, it didn't. Waiting for the haynes manual for more info on that one. I don't understand the misfire though

The obvious thought is it's your choke sticking on, or the throttle cables are too tight. Just a couple of things to check out maybe. Shouldn't think it's the ART can, ours never affected our curvy in that way.

Brilliant, that was my biggest fear, thanks for that. I'll give the other ideas a try the weekend.

Morning all.
Do the tickover/throttle cable adjustments as suggested & see how it goes.
Severely out of balance carburettors or throttle bodies would cause a missfire when the idle drops, as effectively one cylinder will start to cut out as it's air supply is lost
Despite the SV being one of the easier bikes to balance (apart from access to the adjusting screw on carb models) I have seen plenty where the owner or a previous one has got 'twiddlitus' & messed it up. Probably form trying to do it by ear!:D

Cheers.
