Clean bike

This post is just me patting myself on the back really.

A yellow curvey was parked next to me outside the office yesterday.

Despite being older (w reg as opposed to my y) it looked cleaner. It's downpipe was cleaner too. It was only let down by the fact that some prankster had put a top box on (wait'll the owner gets back and sees his bike; he'll go mental!!!!).

His tank protector didn't have a chip out of it, unlike mine.

I went to Infinity to get a new tank protector & whilst there got hold of some autosol & engine degreaser.

Back home I laid out my weapons:

wd40
engine degreaser
autosol
Helen's kitchen cloths
(and eventually Esso's finest unleaded...)

Job number 1 - the tank protector. This was a tricker little bleeder. I removed the old one & wd40'd teh glue stuff but there was a black outline round ht outside where crapola had gotten imbedded in the lacquer. After an hour of scrubbing it was still there. So I dipped Helen's cloths in petrol from the tank. After 30 minutes, job done to satisfaction. Well, not my neighbour's satisfaction, the old dear's curtains kept twitching when I put the rag into the petrol tank......

Job 2 - Clean bike. I used up an entire can of Swafiga engine degreaser on the sv. Still isnt' as clean as I would like it, but then as I'm not kwakzzr I'm not going to lose any sleep over it!

Job 3 - that down pipe. Autosol is sooooo much better than Peek. My downpipe is a colour that I never thought I'd see. I'm really, really chuffed...again it's not to Kwak's high standardsw but I can live with that.

So, I've spent the best part of 5 hours on the bike cleaning it. Whilst it's not Kwak perfect (I can't spend a week on it) it's going to trounce that w-reg on Monday!

Think it's time to open a beer & sit on the driveway on a deck chair just staring at the bike until it's too dark.

What a feeling - truly is a thing of beauty when the bike is clean. I also managed it today and was so happy with the result, after staring at it for 25 mins I took a pic.......Not Kwak clean but then, I doubt it was even that clean when in the shop!!!
