Givi Monorack for pointy - any decent pics?

Tried searching but came up blank - has anyone got decent pics of a Givi monorack fitted to a pointy. Before we buy, we want to see one fitted. (We've not totally killed vanity in pursuit of practicality!)

Also, how does it fix on? I can see the fixings by the pillion pegs but does it just sit on the grab rail? Is the grab rail still useful?

And before everyone re-starts a debate about hard luggage etc.: This is needed for regular two up family riding. It's our kids on the pillion seats. We want something secure so we can leave the gear with the bike at our destination 'cos the kids aren't comfortably up to carting their full set of riding gear around whatever attraction we visit and we don't want to carry two lots! I've already got plenty of Givi boxes for my VFR, so a monorack seems a logical choice, but the kids still need the reassurance that comes with holding onto something, especially when braking.

Or maybe we should just take the car instead? ... !!!

She never took a pillion, but the box was very sturdy.

Still got it in the garage actually - and the rack. It's not used anymore.

Haven't got any instructions for fitting as it was fitted from new for her commuting.

Another pic - rack only - at Silverstone!

We have a Givi rack for our Curvy and it's not a work of art, but the way they use the grab rail to support the rack on a pointy is really horrible IMO.

Re where it fixes:
There's 2 screw holes on the under side of the grab rail so it clasps around and is screwed to the grab rail as well as the pillion peg frame;)

Grab rails can be used on the sides.

I have the side case brackets on mine too and thought the Mrs could hold onto those but there is alot of vibration. Why dont you get some of those love handles for the kids to hold onto? (the ones from busters not the pizza shop!!)

Although the fixing method appears to be rubbish it seems to work, i have done about 3000miles on the thou with the rack on and the bolts are still tight. Not a big deal for most bikes but the RandG bungs get shook off regularly.

If you like to push on a bit anything over 95 with the box fitted seems to cause a bit of a weave. Having a pillion on sorts this out and its fine.

Jools, is that a subtle attempt at an advert? Could be interested, but we would only want the rack, not the box. Perhaps a PM if you have a price in mind?

This summer I did a 3.5 thousand mile trip through spain and france with full luggage and Mrs.

Even though the way the rack mounts looks a bit dodgy..ie off grab rail bobbins.. it does work well. No loose bolts and did'nt use lock tite goo. although they are Nylock nuts.

The biggest problem is the finish on the side rails. They are a bit rust prone.

Check out ebay for cheap sets ie full rack and boxes. I ended up buying 10 panniers and a givi wingrack and fitting kit for a 1200 bandit!! and the fitting kit for side and topbox for the sv.

I sold off all the stuff that was surplus and ended up with 3 good cases and good second hand side and rear rack for a total outlay of £75.

Ebay wheeling and dealing..if you can be bothered with the hassle can pay!

Only problem now is my rear shock is shocking so have bought a gsxr one to combat the
bounce..

I have the earlier rack for a Curvy. That has done several long distance trips of over 2k miles. Nothing vibrated loose, plus you can take the rack off for the rest of the year and apart from 2 little brackets at the back of the subframe there is no evidence. I suspect those brackets on the grab rail will leave a very visible mark on the pointy

Re the rusting. I assembled the rack (the plate and the 2 rails) and got it all powdercoated blue. Much nicer.
