Hot Grips

No it's not another how do i fit them thread.......

I'm about to get some Oxford Hot Grips but after doing a search found out that some people have had problems with the newer 2007 one's. Is it limited to a few people or should I avoid the new ones and stick to the oplder ones with the dial?

Re: Hot Grips

i had the new control box (which will turn its self off if left on) & mine never got hot, just mildly warm, so i tried the older dail control box which was the same,

i phoned oxford and they were as much help as a chocalte firegaurd

from what i understand there is 2-3 differant generations of the grips, & 1 off them does not work too good on the curvy clip ons

Re: Hot Grips

The problem with the new ones was that they switched off at idle, I think. And the problem with teh really old ones was that they had no heat shield and the curvy clipons were good heat sinks. There's a set in the middle which are just right. It's like a nursery rhyme :) Wish they went hotter, mind, they're fine for a clear winter day but for 2am in sleet I want HOT.

My new ones can burn my hands through leather winter gloves (£120 worth!)

i think they only turn off when your battery is low

That's the idea, but the SV doesn't provide much charge at idle so it could confuse the controller, apparently.

So basically I'm looking for the one in the middle which is probably like looking for a needle in a haystack!:D I think I'll get some of the new ones and give them a go, I'll wait until I get my new clip-ons though as I dont know how long the sender will take to send them (Ay Northy ;))
