WooHoo - Brand new 64Mb USB1.1 memory stick
A while ago (but no so long that USB2 wasn't well established) I got given a Victorinox SwissMemory - little penknife with USB flash drive. It's pretty swish though the 64Mb USB1.1 stick is only really useful for a copy of the CV and emergency data transfer of small amounts of data.
Anyway the stick broke recently. The knife is useful by itself and goes abotu with me in my rucksack. So I emailed them asking if I could buy a new stick as mine has broken. Their reply offered to replace it under it's lifetime warranty. This was a bit of a shock, I had no idea there was a lifetime warranty and even if there were on the knife that seems a little unusual on a memory stick (which is a rather fragile entity). Anyway I sent the knife off to them expecting to get told actually that breakage wasn't covered. Well today I got a parcel in the post. "Cool" I thought. I was hoping that they wouldn't have any and of the old sticks, they don't sell them anymore after all and that maybe I'd get somethign larger and faster. Nooo I have a brand new shiney penknife (nice) with a brand new shiney USB 1.1 64Mb memory stick. So thumbs up to Victorinox for their warranty (though the knife was blummin expensive when I was given it). Err shame they couldn't have given or even sold me an upgrade to keep the tech side vaguely contemporary. |
