Pointy Speedo Technician Req.

Hello folks,

Anybody know why the speedo on my K3 would randomly show zero or show incorrect numbers? Odo freezes and trip also (not nice if you are venturing far,far away).

Been like this for a few weeks and is now starting to grate, as its my daily transport and I pass a few speed cams on the journey. Again not nice, when you happen apon them, look down and see you are speeding up to them at 0mph.:(

This gremlin happens every journey. Had a look at the w/shop manual and cos the SV is all hi-techy , the speedo cable runs to a "speed sensor coupler" on the inside of the frame at the headstock ,requiring removal of fueltank:-? and then the airbox:(. Could/would this be the offending widget?

Replace? Clean?.........Bash?

On the curvy, that was a good symptom of a bad 12V supply- loose battery terminals, damaged wiring. It's a different clock but the theory's the same I suppose.

Agreed. It's pointing to iffy connections, the first place I'd look is the three pin connector in the line from the pickup.
