Any suspension mechanics?
Have a problem - suspension screws on the front compression on my kwak are fecked/worn/goosed.
I had uneven tyre wear on the front rhs of the tyre so thought to check the front damping circuits. Turns out they were uneven. No idea why because they were set up for my weight etc and have never been touched since. The bike's been in serviced recently Anyway...when I wound the rhs fork screw round to full soft to count the clicks it seemed to pop/clunk out a bit too far. When I wound it back in it would only go in 5 clicks and jam hard. It should go in 12 clicks. So like a pure tit I tried to force the screw and fecked up the slot. Does anyone know if these screws can be replaced? Is it a DIY jobbie or a pro suspension rebuild? |

Assuming all is well with the machine, all front tyres wear to the right of centre due to the camber of the road. Your damping adjuster probably got some crud behind it, hence it wouldn't screw in as far as it should. Some adjusters are removable, some aren't, what model of Kawasaki have you got? Cheers. |

The adjuster is held in by a pin which is pressed into the underside of the stub where the adjuster sits, and is not easy to get out.
Even if you can remove it with the forks assembled, they'll most likely need to come apart so that the adjuster itself can be freed off. |

The left compression adjuster on my ZX6R J2 has done something a little similar, but I tend to agree with Spanner man's reasoning: "crud behind it"
I don't need more compression damping than I've still got left anyway so it's not an issue, but as I haven't mangled the screw yet I'll be trying to sort this when I next do the fork oil. Even with the compression adjusters set differently it shouldn't cause uneven tyre wear. |
