How's your luck? - 2 Punctures

Just cleaned the bike and noticed there is a punture in both the front and the rear tyre! NICE!

So unless anyone has any better ideas i'm ofrf to Watlings on Monday morning to part with £44 for two repairs.........

Part 2: :(

Limped the bike down to Watlings in Gravesend, just before the front gave up and lost pressure..........only just made it.

On the way I could smell a burning smell coming from the bike, but as I was trying to concentrate on keeping the bike upright I decided to take a look when I got there.

Pulled into one of the bays and the smell was really awful, anyway a guy came up to me and said "did you know you have that there?" pointing to a waitrose carrier bag which was wrapped around my pipe.

Terrific what a start to a week...........should've stayed in bed.

Mind you £50 later and punctures are fixed and the wheels balanced.

Kwak - if you reed this can you advise on how to remove Waitrose bags from my previously shiny pipe?:(

Wire brush and autosol. I've not tried it on waitrose bags, but it removes "melted sole of girlfriend's boot". :)

I've scraped some of it off whilst it was still warm, but on the front pipe it has gone crusty - can't believe how bad my luck is at the moment.................I have just done the worst possible thing and checked my bank balance too.

I got one struck on mine yesterday. Was about to post a "how do I" question.

I'm hoping someone will say you can disolve it off with a petrol/parafin soaked rag?

Ouch, unlucky.

Speaking of lucky/unlucky, when I got my last set of tyres put on at local shop, I got a puncture on the way there! Bahaha.. but it was ok because only happened with a few hundred meters of the shop.

Aw bad luck. Wouldn't a wirebrush scratch the pipe a bit too much? Try a solvent of autosol. I had a bike cover stuck to my pipe, and I ended up peeling it off gently with a stanley knife blade.

Be carefull of Watling Tyres Gravesend. They arn't as "carefull" as i'd like, they also scratched up our VXR 19" alloys, and stole the metal valve caps  by the time i realised, it was too late really.

They've scratched my old SV wheels too. But they are fairly cheap.

If it makes you feel any better, i got a puncture on the Bandito in the first week of picking it up

I didn't really have much choice as they are the closest and the one in Dartford doesn't remove the wheels, I watch over them quite closely and they seemed ok.

The carrier bag is the worst bit.

You must have a few miles on the Bandito now?

8200 miles. Bought in mid feb.....

3 services already :! New bike running costs suck. Can't wait to service it myself, save a fortune.

Tyres done well to hold up. Only just replaced the 020's on it, 8000 miles front n rear....
