My first 'ride-out' today went well, but was a little dissapointed.....
Went on the Essex Air Ambulance run today and it went swimmingly on the whole :)
Shame I was fasting and didn't get to try out any culinary treats once I got to Harwich  :) But, on a sadder note, it seems that there are absolutely NO asian bike riders whatsoever, especially in and around Essex!!! I saw one asian face in total today, and she wasn't even a rider but a pillion. What's going on here? Surely you exist?!?!? The guys and gals I met today were tremendously friendly and great to be around, a really good family day out you coukd say. All that waving to passers by was making my left arm go weak! p.s - To the Essex lounge; the next ride-out, i'm there.......... |

so start a trend, I don't beleive it's exclusive (apart from if we make it that way), it's about bikes, be it male/ female, black white green or blue makes no difference (although reguardless of colour we all reserve the right to take the p*ss every now and then ;), still glad you enjoyed the day.
Cheers Mark. |

I have never got this argument. I don't really see the relevance of someones skin colour, with regards to biking!
You said you had a great time so whats the problem? I personally know 2 asian blokes that ride, but for me their ethnicity isn't relevant. |
Re: My first 'ride-out' today went well, but was a little dissapointed.....
There was a big long post about this a couple of weeks ago. I have seen the odd one or two ethnic riders at local bike pubs. It seems their interest in bikes is limited though.
I'm sure the last topic spiraled out of control and ended up about racial dicriminations ********. Hopefully this wont go the same way. |

Basically us pasty white guys are as puzzled over it as you are. As Mark (Rictus) said, we dont care what colour, religion or gender you are, turn up and join in. If you turn up and feel left out, just talk louder, many of the people at meets know each other, and we can be guilty of getting carried away with catching up with each other that when you first turn up you can feel somewhat ignored. Its not intentional, just get in there, offer to get the coffees in, or if someone is offering to get you one, accept it, its a good ice-breaker. As it is, probably the most "exoticly ethnic" guy we have turn up at the Soho Massive is Spiderman - and once you meet him you will realise how disapointing that is for us all. Personally the more diversity, the more view points, the more interesting conversations are. |

Seriously, we dont care, if your green or blue (well, if your blue something might be wrong so we would care). But its all good. My group at work, my manager is of Pakistani origin, I have an Italian working with me, another British guy, a south African, even an Ethiopian! It really isn't a big deal. It all adds to the fun, different backgrounds, you get different reactions to things with adds to the ammusement! Dan |

Same here, I work with a bunch of Portuguese people and we get along just fine.
errr... |
Re: My first 'ride-out' today went well, but was a little dissapointed.....
It's because Asians /Ethnic monorities tend to have less natural ability when it comes to learning how to ride motorbikes...... compared to Caucasians for an example  :p ;)
