Dyno Runs. Curvy and Pointy
Had my Curvy rejetted yesterday at Steve Jordans. Law had his Pointy remapped there a while ago. Both run on the same dyno so just the atmospheric conditions to allow for.
My bike runs a Stubby can on Akrapovic downpipes with an BMC air filter. Laws bike has standard downpipes with a Yoshi tri-oval can and Pipercross air filter. Results below. Mine first. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i1.../Svdynorun.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i1...sSvdynorun.jpg |
Re: Dyno Runs. Curvy and Pointy
Yours seems less lumpy, that's a very flat torque curve you have.
|
Re: Dyno Runs. Curvy and Pointy
Thats pretty similar, the pointy has a little bit more torque it seems and the pointy has that bit more bhp in the midrange. Not far off each other which I guess was the idea.

Re: Dyno Runs. Curvy and Pointy
Not much in it, but my bike has a flatter torque line and holds on to max power for longer.

Re: Dyno Runs. Curvy and Pointy
Can you explain the different colours?
|
Re: Dyno Runs. Curvy and Pointy
Yeah Stu, if you look at the colour identifier at the bottom of the graph you'll see the time and other various information. The green line is the last run. The red one an earlier run where the jetting was not so accurate. Unfortuneately there is not a base run.
Also there are the 3 lines in each colour. The higher line is HP, the middle one the torque and the lower air ratio (I think). On the lower line the object is to get the line to be between the A/F upper limit and AF lower limit. Steves done a damn good job IMO. |

Quote:
Red = 1st run as you turned up at 13:05 with not much wrong with it apart from running a bit lean (is that right?) at the extremes Blue = 2nd run after Filter & Jet fitted before any set up work Green = 14th run back to how you arrived but with fueling perfect & .66bhp down on the day. However, I stand corrected and the most important thing is that you are happy and notice the improvement. Just a shame ypu can't see the improvement on a Dyno graph. Is that the same with Law's ? The Red is not the very first run 10mins before they were finished? |
Re: Dyno Runs. Curvy and Pointy
My fault Stu. Didn't check my post. Some text seems to have gone missing.
The red run was not the first run as Steve started on the bike around 10.30. I believe the red run to be the first run with the kit fitted and from that he fine tuned it. Shows the advantage of a fuel injected bike as Laws remaps took minutes. Also Steve found a sticking choke and the carbs were way out of balance. No wonder the bike feels better. What surprises me is that the Stubby actually appears to work quite well. Bonus!:p |
Re: Dyno Runs. Curvy and Pointy
Hey... Nice curves  What filter have you got in that, a BMC Race?
Sarah's always saying how their dyno reads lower than a DJ equivalent- is there some correction in the numbers here, or do both your bikes just pull like beasts? :D |
Re: Dyno Runs. Curvy and Pointy
They are Dynojet corrected figures.
Good strong bike there and well on par with the carbed minitwins of alot lesser mileage. Was good to meet you both yesterday and hope you had a good journey back. Apologies it took a while but Steve just wanted to be sure it was spot on for you!. Just off to overlay Law's graph, yours and my SV700 so you can see some differences. Back in a mo!!!:D:smt077 |
