why has the sv go 2 & cbr has 4?

i know that its 1 per cylender(?) but why not have 1 carb feeding each cylender

Re: possible stupid carb question??

It's all to do with the Second Law of Sympathetic Resonance and the necessity to maintain Stoichiometric mass within the normal Cetane Rating of a speed-limited Ideal Brake Mean Effective Pressure Otto-cycle.

That and the fact that, if an SV had only one carb, it would be a Harley Davidson, and if a CBR had two, it would be an Austin Healey Sprite (or a Morris Minor if it had one).

Thats a bit of a contradiction there.

Bikes tend to have one carb per cylinder to get sufficient flow of air, as bikes tend to be very highly tuned compared to car engines and much higher revving.

Trying to fit a manifold to use one carb on more than one cylinder would, IMO be much harder to package in a sportsbike.
