Day dreaming bike expedition....
 

was day dreaming a bit today & got to thinking about a bike trip...figured I could buy a new Royal Enfield in India for circa $1600, then how to get home - then I remembered from ancient times the Silk Route between China & Europe...so I did a little inter-investigating & there was a trade route between India also - this branch of the Silk Route being more commonly known as the Pepper Route.

I plot the course of this route & figure it goes thru a lot of bandit country:

There's the charity Enfield ride through India every year, costs about £5K in sponsorship AFAIR

Ah now this is a route i know a bit about - am currently planning the same trip but running the other way. But funnily enough i plan to avoid Afghanistan...

I'd definitely suggest looking at the Horizons Unlimited website for more info and some inspirational pics, especially of the KKH between Pakistan and China :thumbsup:

Oh and i also did the Enfield charidee thing a few years back, before it cost ?5K!!! Enfields rock :D TBH though you're probably better off heading out there and fixing up a trip yourself - bikes are easy to hire/buy and there's plenty of info available on the web (e.g. Horizons - can you tell I'm a fan?? ;-))
