Re: Nagging doubts

Pleased to hear you're cancer free Bibio!

I think it's a case of too much worrying. I need to get a grip or as my friend said: "just ride it!"

I just did another 60 odd miles...

Nagging doubts

Alternative title: "Get a grip!"

Briefly: knocked the SV over a couple of weeks ago, punctured one radiator hose (now replaced) and bent radiator brackets, pushing rad 1 inch to left (now...

Euro 5b (aka 5+)

I'm not sure I understand this but this is what I think it means.

Bikes won't be emissions tested, instead the bike itself will calculate the lifespan of the catalytic converter using an algorithm...

Re: The All New Megathread

Sunny here but it's one of those days I can't muster enthusiasm for riding because I know there will be a lot of traffic heading for the coast and Cadwell (BSB). On the other hand I feel guilty at...

Re: Engine Noisy, died and wont start

I'd be tempted to drain the oil into a clean container and look for any "forbidden glitter" (a torch helps to see if a bearing has succumbed and left its deposits). If the oil looks good you can...

Re: oil in cylinders?

I thought £600 was a bit steep but I also thought that £30 for the S bend hose from the water pump was pricey too, the second hose is even more.
I did see this radiator on ebay which is, allegedly,...

Re: oil in cylinders?

I took the SV on a longer run and got the impression that the forks were out of alignment and/or the handlebars were bent although it ran ok and didn't seem to handle any different. Put it on the...

Re: oil in cylinders?

I noticed that the metal "ears" that hold the cap tight were not symmetrical, one side was not holding it as close as the other so I tweaked that in a vice. I checked the radiator spout (?) for...

Re: oil in cylinders?

Hose fitted, coolant added, bike reaches temp (3 bars on Gen 3) but radiator cap is dripping. It doesn't look damaged but that was the side it was lying on. No stock, of course.

Re: oil in cylinders?

Why is it that when you know you have a tool but you can't find it until the moment you buy a replacement. I was camped outside Euro Car Parts at 8am to buy a new 16mm spark plug socket. Bought...

oil in cylinders?

After I stupidly knocked my bike onto its rhs it sat like that for about 3 hours. What's the likelihood of oil now being in the cylinders (and possibly causing a lock when trying to start)?
I've...

Re: Woe is me!

Normally I don't have the bikes so close to vertical but I wanted to chain them both together and rather than move the SV closer to allow the chain to stretch, I chose the lazier option of putting a...

Woe is me!

I knocked my SV over! The propstand was sitting on wood so the bike was near vertical and I nudged it and over it went. The usual clueless attempt to hold the handlebars to stop it failed.

It...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?

Is yours the DE model and, if so, did they do the rear tyre recall at the same time?

Annoying puncture

When I went out the SV this morning the rear tyre was at 10 psi. I spent a while looking for the culprit but couldn't find it so I pumped it back up to 36 psi and now, 3-4 hours later, it's 34 psi.
