Re: The All New Megathread

Been pretty good, thanks, Gary. Had a couple of lovely spins on the bike, yesterday through the Derwent Valley taking in the lovely Mortimer Road and Wigtwizzle :D

Off to Bridgewater Gardens...

Re: Tyre pressure discrepancy

For me, Suzi's recommended 33 / 36 works well for grip, feel, good handling and comfort (I'm 75kg / 11.5 stone) with Avon Spirit front, Battlax S23 rear. I've tried higher pressures but it makes the...

Re: A trip back to my childhood.....

That was a staple of the old BBC 'Light Programme' and also used as interlude music on BBC1 and 2 if a programme finished early, as I recall. Couldn't go a week without hearing it!

Re: A trip back to my childhood.....

What's the video, Gary? Can't see it here ...

@Seeker - mention of an oil leak after replacing cam followers gives me a flashback to trying to get the pushrod tubes to seal properly on my old TR6...

Re: The All New Megathread

Thanks Gary - it's my second infusion so it's all fairly routine. At least it doesn't look like I'm going to miss any good weather ...

Re: The All New Megathread

Ooof! It peed down here all yesterday too, and the rain has continued overnight. Lovely [-(

Got hospital visits tomorrow and Wednesday for pre-chemo blood tests and then the actual infusion, so...

Re: The All New Megathread

Skills there, John!

I have the same time of front stand and I'm never quite 100% confident the two rubber-covered fingers will actually stay in place on the end of the forks. In hindsight...

Re: The All New Megathread

Had a cracking ride-out today in the sunshine, and had a good chat with the owner of an Aprilia RS250 over a coffee. Didn't see many of those around when they were new, let alone now. It had Jim...

Re: Ride this week?

Good that you sorted the bike problem, as you say, old fuses can get temperamental.

J&S is always good for a browse, I've bought most of my biking gear there from the end-of-line clearance sales.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Stupid behaviour by a police squad car at traffic-light controlled roadworks.

The roadworks are on an A-road, about 400 yards long and go around a blind corner. So the road is down to a single...

Re: The All New Megathread

I had a spin out to the Raven caff near Whitchurch this morning, which is a nice 100-mile loop from my house.
Roads were surprisingly very quiet. Lots of bikes at the Raven, had a good chat with...

Re: oil in cylinders?

The rad should be OK, it does have the cylinder head support too. But effing hell, £600 for a replacement? Oooof.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Bit of a dark day yesterday on the roads near me. Three bikers were killed in a crash just outside of Buxton on the A53 Buxton to Leek road. A van and a car were also involved. I know that road...

Re: oil in cylinders?

It's unlikely but as S_H says, just remove the plugs and give it a quick crank first if you want to be 100% sure.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Stupidly close passes by other bikers. I was doing an indicated 70 on a sweeping right-hand bend on single-carriageway A-road, roughly in the middle of my lane. The road has double solid white...

Re: Gasoline Direct Injection

Interesting, I wonder how much of that fuel contamination is caused by a lot of short-run driving, in which the engine doesn't properly warm up so that it doesn't get to proper running tolerances?

Re: The All New Megathread

Visited Brodsworth Hall near Doncaster to go round the house & grounds, and also see the falconry display, which was fantastic. Far too long since I've seen them doing it.

Re: The All New Megathread

Ain't that the truth. I've mentioned before that I keep a log of the days when I've had a spin out on the bike, and how many miles I did.

This year to the end of July is the lowest mileage I've...

Re: Thursday rideout

Very cool! I've never taken the road from the B4391 to Ysbyty Gwynedd, despite passing it several times. I enjoy the B4391 too much :-D
