Re: SV650S Fork leg bottom bolt leak

Wouldn't the GSX S750 be that kind of beast?

Re: Tyres for 1999 SV650 for first time rider

Michelin Pilot 5s. Have a pair on mine and very stable. Lots of rubber available even at knee down levels. Wear well, resistant to squaring off, grip really well, neutral feel. Just (in my unlucky...

Re: Suspension & brakes

Agree. I'm only 75kgs and went for 8.5N/mm Ohlins linear and the same mix fork oil. Plush, but doesn't dive horribly. I also went for a Nitron "street" rear shock and it is like riding a magic carpet...

Re: Alkylate petrol

Alkylate is just a branched hydrocarbon fuel made from alkenes formed when cracking crude oil. Used as an additive to petrol to prevent knocking. Alcohols will absorb water, so I'm guessing without...

Re: Washing my car and bike - am I doing it right?

LMAO!

Just washed my bikes. Car has not been touched since July 2020. My priorities are different. Beloved bikes get VIP treatment, car (or Urban Misery Wagon as it is known) gets little.
I...

Re: Updated info for 02 curvy rear shock

I went with Ohlins linear springs front and 10W oil which makes the front dive a lot less under heavy braking, gives a more planted feel in corners and almost entirely eliminates the clunk.

...

Re: Spontaneous Hazard Lights - GSXR1000 K3

Don't blame him! Never had an alarm actually prevent a theft of anything of mine. Two burly blokes chasing after the thieving scrotes did get my bike back however...

Re: Spontaneous Hazard Lights - GSXR1000 K3

Alarms are a PITA.
Had a Ford Scorpio that the alarm would go off when it rained heavily (pre-Met Office Yellow rain warnings?!)

Most people ignore them when they sound and they screw up your...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

That makes some sense, as in the firewood and fruit is yours.

However, I couldn't help but notice that the website is www.problemneighbours so probably appropriate! ;)

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

That is plain aggressive!
I would calm right down and approach them later stating that you are not an unreasonable person, and had they asked you to reduce the height of the trees you would have...

Re: 2020 Panigale vs K5 GSXR

It's engine was the basis of the powerplant for the GSX S1000 which I can assure you is a rip-snorting beast and one of the reasons I bought one. :D

Re: SK3 fork oil level, weight and general confusion

Spookily enough, I went for the Ohlins 8.5N/mm and 10W oil with a set of PR5 tyres and the front end is much improved (I'm 12st plus gear) this coupled with a Nitron rear shock and my old K5 is like...

Re: Goodbye MT09SP, hello Z900RS

I thought that when I got my GSX-S, the fan kicks in even when in 1st or 2nd gear filtering through town.

I think they deliberately set the temperature low as some sort of warranty insurance...

Re: Nightmare day

And buy replacement fasteners for everything in stainless steel and smother them in RRG when reattaching. There are very few OEM bolts/nuts, etc on my bike!

Re: no pressure In rear brakes

That was what I was thinking. Mine went at 13yrs and the kit consists of some o-rings and a spring IIRC and retails for £45 or something stoopid. My rear seized on, but I assume the opposite could...

Re: Front end woes

I had an MOT garage tell me that my head bearings were worn and quoted nearly £200 for the job.

Went to my trusted garage and he checked the side to side movement of the steering stem and...

Re: Paint for fairings

I don't suppose you have any commercial interest in the paint shop?

If not, then share the name of the establishment as this will do us all a favour to have someone to trust with paint, etc. in...

Is that an invitation Bibio?

I know what you mean. Just changing the rear shock and upgrading the front springs makes it feel like a different bike and having stripped and reburbed the front...

Re: We know this...

I have a Suzuki GSXS 1000f and whilst that is an absolute hoot, every time I get the SV out on the road I come back home thinking, "That is a cracking bike". It just does so many things so damn well...

Now then, when can we get out to...

Re: Help desperately needed!

Search on here for no dipped headlights. Very common problem with block connector behind headstock under fuel tank. The corrosion for the headlights causes the high resistance. Clean or bypass the...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?

Interesting.
I honestly thought it was a marketing gimmick to attract wannabe's.
I am now open to giving wardrobe space to a humped jacket (fnarr!) to go with the other 4 jackets I already have,...
