Re: Replacement car tyres and tyres labels
Just to throw in another comment, I used to work in Austria on contracts so needed winter tyres (all seasons weren't around back then). The locals recommended Goodyear (UG range) so I fitted a set to...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
Hope it works well for you Seeker. My lawns were looking rather tatty a week or so ago, the grass has hardly stopped growing during the mild winter and the front looks more like a meadow than a lawn,...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
My old Mountfield mower carb decided to start leaking just before I went off on hols. A friendly neighbour cuts my two smallish lawns for me when I'm away, so I needed to get something sorted...

Re: Cancer...
Just to add to the age note. My neighbour's son is in his mid/late forties and went to a "prostate night" at a local pub, not sure who organised it. I think they just took PSA tests, don't think it...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Just renewed my house insurance with Aviva, the price had gone up about 25% which from what I read isn't bad at all. I've too much stuff on at the moment to be bothered shopping around. Having said...

Re: bit sad today
Thoughts with all.
My Dad died at the end of November, he was 95 and had been pretty well right up until the end, his heart just gave out and it was barely 24hrs between him getting his own...

Re: Benjamin Zephaniah
Always came across as a decent chap. I liked his attitude towards being offered an OBE, saying he has battled against the concept of Empire so how could he have the word attached to his name. Nice...

Different subject .....
Got the Virgin Media message that seems to have been around for a few months now, email not available. My first reaction is what sort of scam is it, but it seems to be...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Interestingly, the tester told me verbally that both headlights were too low, the MOT report online says both too high and too far to the right. Doesn't mean much but just another oddity.
The...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
GOTD - the feeling that "they" have tried to take the mick.
A couple of years ago my regular MOT chap (cars and bikes) retired, he was the only reason I traveled 10mls to get MOTs, so found...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Car insurance up for renewal. Quote from existing (LV) was way too high so shopped round as usual and got something sensible (Aviva, existing customer so some discount). All OK.
Go onto LV site to...

Re: DVLA reminder system
Well you "should" still get paper reminders, though I didn't. If you don't want to use the system then it should be business as usual (for the time being anyway).
There are also plenty of folk who...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
Yep, my Honda Jazz has this system and in fairly typical Honda practice it can be prone to being rather too sensitive at times. Many folk comment on TPMS warnings coming up for no apparent reason....

Re: Coolant
Coolant really does 2 things, the anti-freeze bit and the corrosion protection.
The anti-freeze used in auto coolants is almost always ethylene glycol. There are snake oil merchants who try to...

Re: It's just a bug...
We are already at a stage where you simply cannot trust anything you see/hear/read. How can you tell if something is true? Search for what you want to hear and you'll find it somewhere, and when you...
