Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I worked out eventually that the bleed nipples let air by when I undid them. It meant there was no pressure when I pressed the lever.

In the end I just removed the nipples and let it flow through...

Surely that's not how...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I love that instruction you get about filling brake lines from empty. The bit that says, "This will take a few minutes"

It should say "Take as long as you like. Your life isn't long enough to do...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Been replacing a broken brake reservoir. Went ok, but in pumping out the pistons to drop the fluid level I found the caliper seals had failed.

But impressed.

I don't have any and I need the...

Washing my gear today. So no biking this weekend, but it'll feel lovely on Monday. Nothing like clean cheek pads on your helmet! [emoji38]

Is that an Aprilia engine block, or a rebadged Rotax?

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

If the sliding pin is stiff it first manifests as a gentle pulsing on light braking.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I took the kill switch apart as I think water is playing up with it. Starting can take several goes. Turn the key and all the usual buzzing sounds happen, but press the starter button and although...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Never had a serious problem with the cable being too heavy (maybe I have a strong left wrist)

I do (very occasionally) lube the cable though with a PTFE lube.

I find lube works well with...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

It's easy enough to do. But remember to check how the old lifter was put in - they can come apart but have 3 or 4 ways they go back together, so its worth looking to see how it was before!
Loosen...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Time to check the plugs today, after 16,000 miles.
Not looking forward to the front plug behind the radiator or the rear one that faces into the frame on the LHS.
