Re: 1979 Suzuki X5 Long term rebuild

The BlOOP has been saved, which is good & it's nice to see that you're going to keep it, it's another classic that isn't destined for the scrapyard :)

The X5 was going to be a full restoration...

Re: Part ex prices

Not an sv, but I went to my local Honda dealer looking at buying a brand new 750. I owned a Triumph 955 sprint in really good condition with 20000 miles on the clock. I sold it privately for 1600...

Re: I'm missing something...

I think that you could be right about the photoshop. Honda can do a far better job of "Retro" than that. A friend of mine has just bought one of these, which, again was a tribute to the original 750....

Re: 1979 Suzuki X5 Long term rebuild

It breaks my heart sometimes to think of some of the bikes I've had in the past 7 how cheap I sold them for.
So, a little update. I've been having electrical problems with the little 200, which i...

March Photo Competition

Thanks for the votes for last month's comp. As a nod to my epic journey last year, I think that this month's photo should be "Coastlines". So anything to do with the seaside really :)...

Re: I'm missing something...

Have to disagree. Kawasaki really know how to build a retro. This is a great looking bike & definitely harks back to the original, & it handles really well too according to the press

Re: I'm missing something...

Looking at it, I'd say that the designer had been sniffing too many exhaust fumes, that's gross

Re: Photo Comp - Chat Thread

I had the most surreal meeting with somebody who I think was Banksey in Chester early one Sunday morning.
This chap was happy to chat to me about life, motorbikes, art etc & he had the base of a...

Re: After 40 plus years, I've done it

Best thing to do if it's not being used regularly is to drain the cars etc. I have a feeling that mine will only be out a couple of times a year, after that it'll be in my living room as an expensive...

Re: After 40 plus years, I've done it

I'm going to run mine on premix, won't have to worry about oil pumps packing in & damaging the engine. I'm not too worried about ethanol, these were always designed to run on unleaded anyway.
As for...

Re: After 40 plus years, I've done it

Welcome to the strokers :) I love the sound of the triple, friend of mine owned the 250 back in 1979 when we were riding around on twins, they sound ace :)

Re: 1979 Suzuki X5 Long term rebuild

Not a bad price. I've spent well over 2000 on spares alone. That one needs some work to make her look original, but I would say it's worth the money

Re: 1st bath in about 2 years

I didn't want a blue one after having 2 yellow curvy's in the past, but I do like the colour now :)

Plus, I agree, curvy certainly is the best looker of the line :)

1st bath in about 2 years

Waiting in for a parcel to be collected, so thought I'd give the sv it's 1st bath in about 2 years. Saying that she's been left outside for most of that time without any acf, or wd40, she's cleaned...

Re: 1979 Suzuki X5 Long term rebuild

I've decided that I need to get a life. Following on from the new tail lid, I've sold my old one for a nice profit, bought another 2nd hand one & sold the "new" old one for a tidy profit, which...

Re: Photo Comp - Chat Thread

I have to admit that the forum is very quiet compared to a few years ago. The festive thing doesn't interest me (bad, I know) hence why I didn't contribute.

Re: 1979 Suzuki X5 Long term rebuild

I spotted the holy grail of parts on Ebay on Christmas Day, so bought it straight away. This little lid is new/old stock again, but has to be the rarest part on an X5. I have been offered 100 for my...
