Re: The All New Megathread

Pretty good here, thanks, Gary.

M-i-L has settled very well in the care home, all the stresses, worries and anxieties she had about living on her own have visibly lifted from her and this in turn...

Re: The All New Megathread

That Northerly was cold, wasn't it? Luckily, over the weekend I scored a great charity shop find: a lightweight quilted down jacket with no hood, which is light and thin enough to wear as a...

Re: The All New Megathread

Off out for a walk shortly myself, just locally, then a spin on the bike.

Mitchells Fold is on of the spookiest places I've ever visited, around the stone circle there's a definite 'presence'.

Re: Ride to Betws-y-Coed

I absolutely love that route to Bala, as you climb up out of Pen-y-bont-fawr and along the top the road and views are stunning. Then over the top again on the B4391 to Ffestiniog and down to...

Re: The All New Megathread

Been a bit full-on here over the past 10 days, moving my mother-in-law to a care home near us. We were worried about how she'd settle in, but she likes it and feels comfortable. She's also just 10...

Re: Gearbox question

My SV gearbox is exactly the same as every other Suzuki gearbox I've used: slick and smooth.

They've ALL had the quirk of sometimes not being able to get neutral from first gear when the bike...

Re: Ride to Betws-y-Coed

Can't this time, Gary, but have a good one.

Are you planning on heading over the top to Bala, then the A4212 & B4391 to Ffestiniog and up to Betws?

Re: The All New Megathread

Same weather here. It was dry and 17 celsius yesterday, I had a lovely ride to Whitchurch with a fast zap down the A41, and today it's February again.

Re: The benefits of body armour...

Interesting, but I disagree based on my own personal experience. When I wrote off my K6S on a patch of diesel in 2019, I went down HARD on my hands and knees at about 40mph. I was wearing...

The state of other peoples' bikes

I was at a biker cafe (Ponderosa in North Wales) yesterday, and about to ride off. A rider pulled up next to me on a Triumph Tiger and as I glanced over, I noticed the chain was bright orange with...

Re: The All New Megathread

:D Certainly in the summer months the Harley riders turn out in force and give it an American flavour. However, it's a bit chilly for them at the moment!

Re: The All New Megathread

Just back from the Ponderosa via the Nant-y-Garth pass and Ruthin. It actually feels like Spring is springing at last.

A very nice ride, although there was a lot of run-off from fields on the...

Re: The All New Megathread

Pottering today as the weather is showery, but tomorrow is expected to be dry so the chain is lubed & tyre pressures checked ready for a burn to the Ponderosa / Ruthin or thereabouts.

Sunday &...

Re: carbon fuel tank vent cartridge

I haven't removed it myself but I can't see how it would cause a problem as there isn't a sensor connected to the carbon can. I think you could probably join the tubes to and from the can with a...

Re: The All New Megathread

Morning Gary. The weather seems to have decided it's mid-February again here: cold, raining and blustery. Good job I had a 50-mile spin on the bike yesterday.

Re: The All New Megathread

No real plans, Gary - just pottering around. Hopeful of a spin on the bike if the weather dries up at some point.

Re: Gsx-8R

Keep us posted how you get on with the Road 5s, I've got a newish Avon Spirit (the Storm's replacement) on the front of mine and a Storm 3D on the back with about 4,000 miles left in it.

I'm not...

Re: Caught a McLaren on my GSX yesterday

In spring last year I rode to Llyn Tegid at Bala, pulled into the lake car park and there were over a dozen McLarens parked up, must have been an owner's club meet or similar. Quite a sight.

In...

A look at life in 1971

Here's an ITV World In Action doco (https://youtu.be/zS1gdn6vAWc?si=AgW_uul2ox4SSHLa) from 1971, in which John Pilger focuses on the life of a dye mill worker in Sheffield.

An amazing look back...

Re: The All New Megathread

Morning Gary. No plans, and that's the way I like it it. Although I'd prefer it if the weather forecast was more promising.

As I'm a sad sort who makes a note of which days I've ridden on and...
