Re: What have you tinkered with today?

John,
I had a related but very odd one a few years ago, set off as normal on my SV and the front brakes felt soft, pulled over and gave them a squeeze and noted that they came up to pressure, and...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

High point of yesterday was getting my sister's GZ125 through an MOT with no advisories. The various kludges and bodges have kept me busy on that bike since she bought it a couple of weeks ago, but...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I'm reliably informed Bridgestones are even tougher. Still worked up a bloody sweat, but didn't break a nail so it's all good

In future I'm going to purchase tyres based on softness of...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Completed something of a backlog on the SV over the weekend, I've been short of time so just putting petrol in the top, oil in the bottom and keeping an eye on everything else, so it was getting to...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Yesterday was spent trying to fit 2 sets of race bodywork to 2 Sv650 race bikes.

Bearing in mind the fairings were specific to the SV650 99-02, the fit was not what you'd expect. Many, many hours...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Fitted a 2nd hand Hyperpro shock to the road SV over the weekend. It was a bit of a sod to fit as it's wider than stock so my usual trick of just lifting the rear wheel and inserting it in the space...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Fired the race bike up for tomorrow's acu test. It popped and banged like a good'un. Carbs had recently come from my road bike but were rechecked. Area checked for air leaks, cam timing checked as I...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Finished bleeding the brakes on the 2 track bikes, that's 2 dry front systems, and 1 dry rear plus a fluid change on a rear that had older fluid from one 500ml bottle with some spare left for top...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Today I performed some surgery on an old air filter and threw some jets in the carbs to suit. Hopefully they'll be a decent match on the road bike and can get shifted into the race bike. Also...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I made a simple tool up today with a used can and some tin snips. 10 minutes well spent and reinstalling the front CCT was much easier with it in place.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Well, I used a narrow screwdriver and held it in place with a bit of tape but it was a bit of a fiddle. I'm planning on making one of these out of some thin metal as being able to just pull the tab...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

It's really not any harder than taking your old cams out and putting the new ones in. They can be used one of 2 ways. Like for like all the timing marks are exactly the same on pointy & curvy, so...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

A full set of k5 cams have gone in the track bike. Have I mentioned lately that the curvy cam chain tensioners are a sod to install? Hey Ho, new cams are in and clearances are good. Time for a beer....

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Today I have been mostly playing with carbs. With the track bike having stolen the carbs out of the road bike, the track carbs have had to be apart to solve a running issue. With a damaged diaphragm...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I found that the cigarette lighter socket in my car was broken and replaced the fuse. To my shame I had to check the Haynes manual to find where such a fuse board might be located.
