Re: Nightmare rides
I've worked in Nigeria and it's an interesting place. We paid a local company to take care of our people and us westerners weren't allowed out without our local minders/drivers.
Armed guards...

Re: New member, a few questions!
It does sound like an import, which shouldn't be a big deal on a ten year old bike.
A skinny kid tucked right down on the tank might get over 120 out of a faired model, but for most of us 119mph...

Re: Snow
I've just looked at the weather forecast for London on Monday.
If the Beeb is to be believed we're expecting >40 knot gales on Monday. Not quite storm force 10, but still pretty breezy.
I...

Re: The All New Megathread
Sunday has started with a puncture on my push-bike so I won't make the start of a group ride. Maybe I'll ride somewhere else instead.

Re: Memories
Now you've reminded me of another job I've got to do. Go through my bills folder and chuck out anything more than two years old. Then file this year's bills. Another hour or two wasted.
Maybe this...

Re: Space X
I've watched a few videos on Youtube about how rocket engines work - if you have some time to waste it's jolly interesting.
Pumping cryogenic fuel isn't trivial. Liquid oxygen boils at minus 183C,...

Re: Ink jet printers
I've still got my A3 inkjet printer sitting on top of a cupboard, but it's been there too long and I'm going to have to chuck it out because the print head will have dried up (again).

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
That's the whole point. They want you to buy the product for £30 more than their competitors not £5 less. So they offer you £35 cashback on the assumption that only a tiny percentage of customers...

Re: The wrong direction?
That's rubbish. They're supercharging a 6 litre V8 engine and barely getting over 100 horsepower per litre. So disappointing. Even the Porsche Cayenne S E-hybrid will beat it to 60mph with a biker...

Re: The future (economics)
Not just overpopulation. There's also increasing expectations and diminishing natural resources. Together that's a recipe for trouble.

Re: The future (economics)
I only skimmed through the Yahoo article, but I didn't see anything new or exciting.
In summary, there are too many people in the world wanting the lifestyle we currently have in the west. As a...

Re: if it ain't BoZo
First past the post was all our systems could handle a almost century ago.
These days we could, in theory, have something much better at determining what people want. Unfortunately, in many cases...

Re: if it ain't BoZo
I don't think it matters who sits in the PM's chair at the moment. The 25% increase in government borrowing during the pandemic is going to restrict their spending options. From a Conservative...

Re: Policing on the cheap?
Maybe we need a scheme where a group of concerned residents share of the costs of a mobile camera which will be sited there on a random day each month. Only paying about 5% of the full cost would...

Re: But cyclists.....
I assume that the cyclists killed by motor vehicles while doing some thing stupid count as 'caused by cars/lorries'. :smt096

Re: Ulez
I just looked at the pre-73 cars available on Ebay, and any that I would consider driving cost more than getting a little electric runabout. But it would be pretty stylish to turn up in one of these:...

Re: But cyclists.....
So first off we need some police officers who are able to stop a cyclist who rides through a red light, i.e. police bikers. Then we need the willingness to actually do some enforcement, which is ever...
