Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I went out again this morning and found if I move my foot back a bit first it all works fine. Just need to change my muscle memory, that's all.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I took Hugh's gearshift off today to move it up a notch, as I was struggling to get my new boots under the lever to upshift. Bit disappointed to find it was as high as it can go without fouling on...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Today I have been tinkering with my trusty old Raleigh. After inflating the squidgy tyres yesterday I tried to lube the chain but found the pedals did not want turn. Half the chain links were seized...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Today I have mostly been tinkering with... coffee. I do like a coffee mid-morning and have recently inherited my late father-in-law's bean grinder - an ancient manual machine that obviously broke...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Fudge. You get the indicator lenses off a Trumpet by twisting them, which I found after using what seemed like a purpose made point for a flat-blade screwdriver lever off... At least the bulb just...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Wish me luck - I need to look at Hugh's indicators this afternoon as the lefties do not work. Got home from a nice ride out yesterday to notice the repeater on the dash blinking like it was trying...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Similar issue to Admin but in my case it's the scarifier. Dug it out of the shed and got ready for the slog of emptying the damn thing every ten seconds and filling/lugging 30-odd rubble sacks to...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Bit of a first world problem  Nice bit of kit though, despite the number of pegs.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I'm really not sure which side the switch is on I'm afraid as I don't have a wiring diagram to check. The tip came from a Trumpet forum and I too was sceptical but sure enough when I used the...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Wiring in sat nav is straight forward. Find the live on your horn (no sniggering) which is usually attached to the loom via spade connectors. Add a piggyback spade connector to one of the TT cables...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Weirdly enough I cleaned my A* leather jacket and jeans today. First time I've ever cleaned them in over five years. Forgot how black leathers could be. Used a set of cleaner and conditioner I got...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I've only had the bike since July  but I finally got round to adding the tail for my Optimate. It's now plugged in and I managed to find a nice tucked away location for the plug to exit...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I now have a rack and Givi plate on my Bonnie. In the seven weeks I've owned the bike I've missed my topbox. It's a little large (V46) but it will do the job and it matches well colour wise.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Erm, sorry Bibs, you lost me in that bit about DC electrics... I can remember my high school physics lessons where we built simple circuits but that's the limit to my knowledge.

I did look for...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

My satnav mount. As a biker of the late eighties I ended up with a multi meter, crimping tool, box of assorted connectors... It took some rooting about but I found them yesterday and sussed out which...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

My spaz nav. Bought a better mount that goes on in place of a handlebar mounting bolt so put the standard one on my bicycle. No more stopping to check the OS map every time we get to a junction....

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I'm not too fussed. It was interesting to work for a much smaller company than the big corporates I normally end up at but they were so unsure about what they wanted it was disconcerting. I've...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Today I have been mostly tinkering with me CV. My client decided to call it a day on my reporting contract a little early.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

What did you get Lance? I'm so far happy with my car nav on the bike but if I cannot get an extension bar to raise it up a bit I may be tempted to buy a bike-specific one that I know comes with one...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

My pedals (on the push bike). They have survived 18 years of use but the oe pedals have seen better days. One was getting pretty loose on its spindle and the other makes scrunching noises at random...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Not so much tinkering as tidying. The patio table and chairs are now out of hibernation and I've moved stuff around in the shed so I don't have to lug the long ladders out just to get at the...
