Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I put up a sensor light inside the garage. Aside from lighting up the bikes it'll help when I have my hands full of stuff for the freezer so I don't have to struggle putting the light on as the...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

My Manfrotto tripod 550 decided to fall to bits, no idea why. Spent about 20 minutes trying to get all the bits back in the right place as it's one of those you can flip to 90° and that was the bit...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I've tinkered with my credit card. 12k service at BMW plus MOT, £340. But they did wash the bike for me.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

It didn't look like that, was more like this and I wasn't even staying for the BBQ.

Also this weekend I set up my new PC at home, including managing to install Office and Adobe Creative Suite...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

So a tootle up into Suffolk and an afternoon spent in a mate's workshop and the bolt is finally off. Battery can now be replaced. That only took an hour and a half, 4 drill bits, several hammers and...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Tried to get the bash plate off the KTM to change the battery. One bolt is having none of it. It's been rounded off by the previous owner and won't budge. Very frustrating.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Halogen hob! Located the old fashioned manual drill, job done. SV has left the building. I even pumped up the tyres, lubed the chain and put the baffle in for him.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Told the bloke who had bought my bike 'yes it's got a number plate, I just haven't put it on'. He wants to pick bike up at 9.30am. I've just got home from work at 11pm.

Not sure where number plate...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Does fitting some under cabinet lights in the kitchen count? I've been waiting a year for Stuart to do them, he went away this weekend so I did them myself.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I had a good look at the chain and sprockets on Stu's KTM. Definitely in need of a change so got him to book it in. He never cleans the chain, or seemed aware the sprockets were well past their best.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Took a clutch to bits, put it back together. I've finally managed to buy some gloves in small size which makes working on fiddly stuff loads easier and stops me ruining my nail polish.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I have taken apart, cleaned and put back together several different carburetors at college this evening. Then removed and emptied a tank that contained more sludge and rust than fuel. I smell like...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Took the brakes apart and put them back together on one of the college bikes. Safe to say there's no way either front or back would work again without new seals, possibly completely new MC.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I've bought a bike sat nav, the Garmin 660. So I've spent the evening fiddling about with all the settings. Come the weekend I'll wire it into the bike, just need to get the bare wires and connectors...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I asked my sister for a torque wrench for my birthday. Her reply was why do you need a wrench that talks? Does it tell you when you've tightened something up? #-o

I have now changed my request...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

It's about the most tinkering I could manage. Now can anyone tell me how to remove the top box framework from the SV with minimal fuss? That was my planned tinkering yesterday but I was coughing too...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

We've just done an oil change on CMSD2's Tiger. Getting the sump guard off and on was proper fiddly. He's lucky his Debbie McGee style assistant has tiny hands.
