Re: Bike expenditure app - Roadtrip

A bottle of redex injector cleaner very couple of months will give your system a decent clean, dinosaur juice is not as clean as it looks and deposits lacquer on injectors and other stuff. Bit like...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

There is a very true saying that 'you can choose your friends but you cannot choose your family'. I have seen grown kids be horrible and selfish to parents and expect unconditional love (and money...

Re: AL7 at 20,000 miles

Same here, it really is a pretty good all-round bike. Because of being naked and lower geared it will stick with pretty much anything up to about 70 - I have ridden with bigger bikes and not felt...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?

Knowledge base updated, but the original article said anything more powerful than 250watt motor would need to be registered, licenced and insurance anyway.

More powerful bikes still no faster than...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?

Under present regulations any faster than 15.5 mph and riders will need a licence, tax insurance and registration plates, as it will be classed as a powered two wheeler.
This is pretty much the same...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Did anyone see the documentary about the winter of 1962/3 a few months ago ? There were clips of steam locomotives traveling through deep snow without it seemed too much problem. Electric trains can...

Re: Rear brake still sticking after servicing.

I will blip my rear brake as well, the engine braking is so good that you can slow down pretty damn quick without showing brake lights, it is wise to at least show some sign that you are slowing...

Re: Bike expenditure app - Roadtrip

The cars I have tried it in certainly seemed perkier, pulled away better and went up hills better. Unfortunately he truth was you can't have your cake and eat it, you can either enjoy the extra...

Re: Bike expenditure app - Roadtrip

This is what I found on cars with an ECU smart enough to adjust spark timing, modern car ECU will back off ( retard ) timing if knock detector gets triggered, this can happen with lower octane, and...

Re: Rear brake still sticking after servicing.

Front discs get a lot more cooling air than the rear does. All disc brakes drag a bit, there is nothing to pull the pads back except a bit of flex in the seals. With drum brakes there were big...

Re: Handguards for 2016-

How good is the fit between inside diameter of your handlebars and unexpanded diameter of the fixing ? Any gap will limit the amount of contact between inside of bars and the expanding part, and...

Re: Rear brake still sticking after servicing.

The master cylinder will only open the port to connect fluid to reservoir when the piston is in its fully retracted position, this is to allow any air to escape and fully remove any pressure from the...

Re: Handguards for 2016-

The problem maybe that the bit with the splits in is only expanding on the very inner end (especially if the expansion nut has a steep angle on it ) - a bit of rubber or tape gives a bit of...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?

Yup, the 40 milers do 40 in 60, 50 40 and 30 limits, not caught on doing 40 in one of the rapidly becoming more common 20 limits yet, but I am sure some of them would. They seem totally unaware of...

Re: Handguards for 2016-

I found the same on my (different make) handguards, there does not seem enough expansion when you tighten the screw and / or the rubber insert is too soft, either way the screw can bottom out. I...

Re: Mirror replacements 2017

Check if your bike has one LH and one RH thread before you look for mirrors, IIRC the left hand mirror on SV-AL7 has a LH thread and RH has RH so that wind force on mirror tends to tighten the...
