Re: If I was Prime Minister...

I'm not sure I agree with you on the VAT rebate thing - the problem is that things which are luxuries for citizens are sometimes required for the business to operate.

Re: Cyclist deaths

Lorry drivers are generally better than this, mostly because of what Red Herring said - they're indicating what they are actually planning to do, because the preparation steps are contrary to the...

Re: Lifepaint?

The most amusing one I've heard about was a friend of mine who drives various large vehicles, who had someone drive into him when in the ultimate hi-vis vehicle - a bright yellow JCB with a flashing...

Re: Politics - read at your peril!

Hope your guy gets further with the DoT than we have over the last 7 years. What I'd expect is that he'll get stonewalled, and then find out that the actual rules are controlled by the EU Driving...

Re: Lifepaint?

It's interesting that the cycling lobby have come out against it - they seem to be moving in a similar direction to us, which is to call companies out for trying to shift the blame onto the victims....

Re: Politics - read at your peril!

Only thing I'm going to add is that some people need winding up to function properly - worth seeing if this works on politicians, because they don't seem to function at the moment ;)

Re: Photo a day 2015

Building is the Town Hall, with the peace gardens in front of it. Don't get it mixed up with the city hall, which is just around the corner and is more of a concert venue - but both have fountains...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Saw a heavily modified Boom Trike at the Yorkshire Pudding rally this year - Supercharged Jaguar v8 power ;)

Re: Considering voting Green?

figaro: You say that, but MAGs national chairman checked (in disbelief) - it's still current policy, so worth spreading.

Re: help me avoid panic and target fixation

Plenty of good advice here already, but that's never stopped me before...

To pick up on what Heorot said - if you're still trying to work out what to do in a bend while you're in it, you're...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

I know we've all been griping about the Boxing Day sales, but I suspect the older people like myself can remember when they were January sales...

Re: Happy Birthday Orose

Not a hope of that, I'm afraid - I put everything off to today, with there being a national committee meeting yesterday.

Not a bad haul of swag though - Guy Martin's autobiography is in there, so...

Re: The English justice system is not fit for purpose

Putting one of my logoed hats on for a second, I'd have to say that the sentencing surrounding motoring offences is so far out of whack with the rest of the system, that it needs shaking to its core...

Re: Drinks in Preston Sat 18th Oct

Going to have to opt out this year - the meeting I normally travel from to join you is on the Sunday instead, and there's no way I'll survive an 8 hour double-AGM on 4 hours sleep...

Re: Petrol stations and helmets again.

I'm with SP1 - I also wear a flip-front, and I've never been asked to remove my lid, so I'd like to see consistency in this area. The part that annoys me is when the garage claims to be acting in...

Re: The Org Scottish Referendum

I must admit, I've stayed out of this thread because it's none of my business what Scots decide to do with their country. What I do hope is that people are happy now that they've had their say, and...

Re: Lancashire Constabulary are a fecking joke

I think in your situation, I'd be looking to write a nastygram to the PCC for the area with the aim of getting a face-to-face meeting. It sounds like you're definitely getting the short end of the...

Re: Pressure sensitive laffic trights - not biker friendly?

I'd be inclined to report it to the relevant authority (highways agency or local council) as soon as, so you've got a defence in line with what the fishy one said above.
