Re: (Yet) Another convert to Triumph

Lovely looking bike - congratulations.

Now all you have to do is to keep it clean. Those alloy engine cases are a real pain to keep looking nice. I'd suggest regularly wiping them with ACF-50.

Re: 3D Printing To CNC Machining

Do you have a hackspace near you? They often have the kinds of machinery that you might need, including 3D printers, CNC machines and laser cutters. It might be far cheaper than buying your own kit,...

Re: SV650s to Street Triple?

I had a 2013 Street Triple (non-R) for 3 years. It's a really great bike, much better than the SV. I didn't have a problem with vibration on mine. The only downside of the standard bike is that...

Re: Street Twin?

I haven't ridden either, but looking at the torque curves it seems as if at just over 3000rpm, the NC750 is putting out just over 40ft/lb of torque, whilst the Street Twin is nearly 60. That would...

Re: Recommend me a padlock, please

I had one of those CISA padlocks on my bike chain. It fell apart after about 10 years. Oddly enough, it did so the day after I'd ordered a new Almax chain and Squire padlock.

Re: New Bike

How about XSR700 (sv-ish middleweight with retro looks) or XSR900 (fast version). I had a test ride on the XSR700 and it felt a bit wanting compared to my Street Triple. The 900 is reckoned to be a...

Re: Street Twin?

The T120 is a lovely bike and you'll be sure to love it. The black one looks superb.

Re: Street Twin?

I had test rides on both the T120 and the Thruxton R. The T120 is like Samwell Tarly. It's that lardy, slow kid who's now grown up and put on some muscle and will surprise you by being unexpectedly...

Re: Street Twin?

I haven't posted on here for years, so hi again everyone.

I'd booked a test ride of the Street Twin for Thursday morning, but have just phoned Jack Lilley Triumph and changed that to a T120. I'd...

Re: Motorway Speed Cameras

No, Keith's statements aren't contradictory. With normal speed cameras, people can drive badly and then slam their brakes on when they see a camera. With average speed cameras, they measure speed...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

I'm not sure what speed they go off at, but I've seen them flash other cars plenty of times when driving around the M25. It's certainly not a rumour as they've recently installed a lot of these...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Not the new ones. They're on the side of the gantry.

There's a picture in the article below, but there's quite a few of them on the M25 now, not just the ones mentioned in the story.

"Oh, Santa!" by Mr B, the Gentleman Rhymer. I won't post a link as it's definitely not U rated.

Re: ADSL through powerline homeplug

No you can't. They're entirely different things. You need an ADSL modem connected to the phone socket (usually the master socket), then connect that to the homeplug. I'm not sure why you'd need...

Re: SV650s realistic MPG?

Yes, commuting in London will decimate your mpg figures. I'm averaging just under 45mpg on the Street Triple, which is a huge improvement over the Triumph 1050's (Speed & Tiger) that I had...

Re: Perfic Chrimbo Present - 2 Stroke Scented Candle

If it smells like Castrol R, then I want one.

I was wondering the other day whether you could burn Castrol R in one of those oil burners or lamps.

Re: Go Pro Hero 4

I'm looking for a helmet cam, but would prefer a bullet-cam to the Go-Pro shape. I'm hoping that the hero will drive down the prices of rival cameras.

Re: EE or Three?

I was going to switch from EE to 3, but ended up staying with them. I've had over 30Mb/s on 4G with EE, though speeds can vary a lot depending on where you are and how busy their network is.

Re: MOT failed, K3.

There's different kinds of loud though. Some fruity pipes will provide you with much aural pleasure, others just sound painfully nasty.

Re: Joey.......

14 years!? As the Chinese say, 'Ho Lee Fuk'. Can't believe that it's as long ago as that.

Joey was, by all accounts, an amazing guy with unbelievable talent and skills.
