Re: sidestand

Got one from a GSXR750, don't know what year, on my curvy S. It keeps the bike a bit more upright, but not quite so easy to get at to flip down.

Re: Show us your workspace...

Bugger! Photo worked last night - maybe it was the scantily clad ladies in the posters on the walls that made it throw a wobbly!

Re: Lightened flywheels - group buy?

Yeah, have been looking on Ebay, but they're few and far between.

Just hope nothing ever goes wrong with the rotor in the future. Think it would have to be angle grinder and cutting disc time...

Re: Lightened flywheels - group buy?

That's pretty much what I've decided to do. I'm only going to cause more damage if I carry on.

Re: Lightened flywheels - group buy?

Yeah, I've got the rotor bolt itself off, and I'm trying to draw the flywheel off the taper.

I've also tried a hot air gun, with a nozzle, to try and keep the heat away from the magnets, but that...

Re: Lightened flywheels - group buy?

Tried that first, all it did was strip the threads out of the centre, so had to re-tap it.

Re: Lightened flywheels - group buy?

I'm still struggling to get my flywheel off.

Tap arrived this morning, so re-tapped the thread and at least it seems to be holding when I insert the bolt.

Tried lots of penetrating oil,...

Re: Lightened flywheels - group buy?

Thanks for that idea Mav.

I've just found a spanner that fits the flats on the rotor, and it's just long enough to butt up against the crash bung. I'm going to have to re-tap the threads in the...

Re: Lightened flywheels - group buy?

Hi Guys,

Having a problem trying to remove my flywheel. Tried a breaker bar on the rotor removal bolt yesterday, and it wasn't budging, so then had a go at it with my impact wrench - still not...

Re: New project in the garage.

Have you got that rear brake caliper on right? I have a curvy, and the caliper's mounted beneath the swingarm, with the brake torque arm connected to it. Can't see a torque arm in your pics - or is...

Re: New project in the garage.

Blimey, what's happened to your swingarm? Looks like someone's been using the bike for the Dakar rally!

Re: Bob's Track Project

Still have just enough time to get in on the group buy for a lightened flywheel if you want to get a bit more poke out of your motor for track days.

Search my posts or millemille's for...

Re: Lightened flywheels - group buy?

That's good news, this idea seemed to be stalling a bit!

I'm just waiting for my rotor puller tool to turn up and then I'm ready to go.

Re: Lightened flywheels - group buy?

We need 5 people to be interested for this to be worth it as far as Millemille is concerned. As far as I'm concerned I'd like to get this done asap, as I'm prepping my bike for the season, and I...

Re: Lightened flywheels - group buy?

..plus you're going to need a new gasket for the generator cover when you come to fit it (just ordered an OEM one myself at a cost of £23), plus engine oil, and probably an oil filter.

Thanks...

Re: Lightened flywheels - group buy?

Just had a cost from Mike (Millemille), it's £145 for an assembly with steel bolts, and £185 for one with titanium bolts, both prices are plus p&p.

Lightened flywheels - group buy?

I've been in touch with Millemille regarding getting my rotor/flywheel lightened.

He needs 5 people to be interested to make it worthwhile doing another batch.

Anyone else interested?

Re: Avon 3D XM's

Thanks Blapper. The woman in the shop said they wouldn't recommend them for track days, and tried to steer me towards a full on sports tyre, but 90% of my mileage is on the road, and I'm really in...

Avon 3D XM's

Just had a set of Avon 3D XM tyres fitted in standard sizes, changing from an ancient Dunlop 204 front in a 70 profile, and a Dunlop Roadsmart rear (std 60 profile).

Anyone else...

Re: Pics of my bike - finally!

It came with the bike, probably a Powerbronze item? It was plain black, but I did the paint job myself using rattle cans and Frisket film.

Re: Pics of my bike - finally!

Thanks. Doesn't look quite so good at the moment as I'm rebuilding it after the off last year. Mostly cosmetic damage fortunately, but taking the opportunity to do some more upgrades - getting...

Anyone doing this track day?

I'm booked in, but a bit nervous about the noise test. Swapped my Blue Flame race can (no baffle), for a Beowulf road legal can with baffle, but it still sounds...
