Re: Commuting Tyres

Thread revival!

Just getting the tyres changed today. I've had BT021 on for the last 15,600 miles. Getting a bit short of tread.

Re: Commuting Tyres

Now have 10,000miles on the Road Attacks.

The front looks about half way through it's life. The rear is on it's last few miles - not quite as long lasting as the Z6s - though I have been riding a...

Re: Commuting Tyres

Now got about 8,000 on them.

The rear is starting to square but not badly enough to notice on the road. I suspect I can get another 3,000 at least out of it. Which is good - I calculated my costs...

Re: Commuting Tyres

Well, teh Z6s were taken off after 12,000 miles - the rear was badly squared.

On went the Road Attacks - 1,000 miles under the belt now. The writing on the tread has gone but the feel is good. I...

Thanks for the offer of a brew - I would need it - it's a 300 mile round trip!! (that's £30 in petrol and the new tyres would be half worn on my return!!)

11,500 miles now and I have lost confidence in the rear. The rear is badly squared and has spun up twice this week so it's days are numbered.

I was shocked at prices though. Last April I was...

Despite all the thinking - I still have the Z6s on. They have now clocked up 10,000 miles. The front has not got any worse, the rear although squared still has plenty of tread. They are a little...

I am.

I'm just plugging loads of figures in to spreadsheets to see if it is more cost effective to replace front and rear with something that wears better (Even considering the D220 for this!) or...

Now at 7,000 miles on the Z6s.....

The front has gone a wierd shape (I mean in profile) there is a central ridge, then it cuts away real quick, shame the rear is only slightly squared....

I now have 5,000 miles on the Z6s I had put on in March.

I must say my confidence in them is waning. The rear is squaring off and I think I will be lucky to get 8,500 out of it (which is how long...

Well, I now have over 1,000 miles on the Z6's. Must say I do like them, though the weather isn't helping me in testing them thoroughly.

They do drop into corners nicely and feel a little more...

I don't think I rag the D220s until they are really warm - they just have no cold grip at all. I find they take a good 5+ miles to heat up, then they are fine (until they square off that is!)

Commuting Tyres

I need to get a new rear (and probably front too)

Just done 8,000 miles on the original D220s. Didn't think too bad of them - a little unnerving in the cold (a cold start in -5 Celsius is a bit...
