Re: ROSPA vs IAM?

Just a few points about this thread, it sounds to me that the op had a problem with the observers comments ( IAM observers are not instructors, we don't teach people to ride bikes). Bear in mind that...

Re: where's Ed ?

I wouldn't say he's still got the hump but it didn't help and looking at some of the posts that are put on this site I can see no reason why he would want to come back. Too many people post things...

Re: I hate Triumphs so much........

Re: Best tyre fix ??

Interestingly there was a feature on tyre repair kits in the last Ride mag. Some people will only repair Michelin tyres as they have kevlar belts rather than steel ones. if you drill the hole out in...

Re: Shropshire Bike Fest

Weather wasn't too bad in Shrewsbury but it was tipping it down generally so attendance was disappointing, but we did manage to sign up quite a few new IAM members who want to take advanced riding...

Re: IAM or ROSPA - Did the training but not the test?

Erm, have I said anywhere in my posts that I don't exceed the limits when I'm out on my own or in a group, nope, also have I said that we always expect brake lights when slowing down, nope, The...

Re: IAM or ROSPA - Did the training but not the test?

Forgot to say good on you Ralph and good luck with the test, perhaps when you've done it and passed with flying colours you will go on to be a tutor and pass on some of your new found skills to...

Re: IAM or ROSPA - Did the training but not the test?

Not being rude but what a load of tosh, we are not teaching you to just pass a test, but hopefully to take away skills that will make you a safer, smoother and more capable motorcyclist for the rest...

Re: IAM or ROSPA - Did the training but not the test?

Perhaps I should have said 10% ish, within reason, I would rather the associate was watching the road and not the speedometer while doing the overtake, if the overtake was on a short stretch of road...

Re: IAM or ROSPA - Did the training but not the test?

Ralph, it's entirely up to you wether you take the test or not, but what is there to lose? you've done the training so go for it. As to the overtaking a car doing 58mph while I cannot tell an...

Re: Do you ride with fear?

Hopefully not in those at all, caution for the unexpected yes, but not outright fear. it all depends on your degree of fear and perception of it. Everyone is different. A person who rides with fear...

Re: Joining an advanced riding group?

Correct on all counts, as a Senior Observer (IAM) I would never advocate those types of risky overtakes and would take to task anyone of my associates who tried and took those. They are dangerous in...
