Re: Project: 500GP

I'm assuming you have to sign up to photobucket to see the non-blurry images. It seems a strange policy for a site that is intended for you to share images - yes, you can share them but not everyone...

8 inch floppy disks

When I first started work and up to the early 1990s I used 8 inch floppy disks. Apparently the US nuclear force still does but is about to stop:

Thanks for the suggestions. I did find this: https://www.resinfloorcoatingsuk.com/shop/resin-garage-floor-coating-kit/ which is one possibility. I'm also going to get a quote to have it done...

Yamaha MT125 VVT

This new 125 from Yamaha has variable valve timing. I thought the idea of VVT was to produce more power/torque but this model produces less torque than the none-VVT, dropping from 9.1 ft lb to 8.5...

Re: 13500 miles on rear tyre

I think my 2016 AL7 had those too, they only lasted 4500 miles. I was told (so it's only hearsay) that the tyres fitted as stock do not reflect the durability of aftermarket tyres with the same...

Re: Is there a low mounted GP/ stumpy exhaust for curvy SV?

You can't "attach" using the forums' own paperclip, you have to link to an image which usually, but not always, means they are stored on an image hosting site.

As an example, here's a link to a...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Not so much a gripe, more a sigh of resignation. The concrete slab for the new garage was laid yesterday and I think the foxes have walked over every square foot. I'm covered against all concrete...

Building a Kawasaki H2A (750 triple)

5 minute factory video, funny that they don't mention the epithet "Widowmaker", which it shared with the H1. ;)

Metallic sound from front on new SV

I've been following a number of people complaining about metallic noises from the front of their 2018 SV650 on the US site. My AL7 (2016) doesn't do it and I've done 26000 miles, anyone here...

Re: Chinese parts.

I wouldn't argue with what you're saying generally but it still can be a game of chance whether you get a "good" one. I try and avoid Chinese products on ethical grounds rather than product quality....

Re: 2007 SV 650 SA, front fender marking?

If you have a picture look for the ABS ring on the front wheel, the one on the rear wheel is a little harder to see. The front ring is on the left side of the wheel.

Re: SV650X on a dyno

In part 4, they fit a 180 section rear tyre which "transforms" the handling. The new SV uses a 5 inch rim which means the standard 160 section tyre doesn't fit that well.

If you have a late model SV (AL7 onwards) the genuine Suzuki manual is no longer available in the UK, it is now on disk/online and I think that is dealer only. However, you can...

Re: 13500 miles on rear tyre

not as long as the rear but I still got about 10500 miles. My bike was due its MOT and since I'd almost reached the tyre wear bars I decided to change it, I suspect it would have lasted another 1500...
