Re: Exhaust Rattle - how to stop?

Bibio, I hate to disagree but please research cold welding of stainless steel fasteners. Using different grades of stainless lessons the likely hood but as most people don't know what they have when...

Re: running problems

It could be old plug caps and HT leads, that can cause rough running as soon as there is any load on the spark.
Also crud in the carbs, it might be sucking gunk up and blocking a jet as soon as the...

Re: Exhaust Rattle - how to stop?

Bibio, Why would putting copper grease on the threads before tightening them up cause the threads to strip? Also stainless to stainless nut bolt combinations should never be done dry as there is a...

Re: Gear/nautral issues

The actuator is a plastic contraption that you can get apart but even if you can find all of the ball bearings the plastic is usually worn out. A new one is normally the only long term solution.

The header bolts are no better or worse than any exhaust bolt. It is the combination of high temps and being sprayed with water/salt over and over again that gets them. Use stainless replacements but...

Re: Engine and header painting?

Those rusty and furry header bolts are coming off the front pot when you want to service your swing arm and rear suspension bushes. Best sort them out now as later! If you do just want to tart the...

Re: anti freeze

As you are adding coolant which is full of corrosion inhibitors as well as antifreeze any corrosive affects of using pure water are negated. I have 1000s of litres of the stuff at work and the...

Re: Need Help with my new SV

Carb icing has little to do with ambient temperature and often occurs during hot humid weather. Carb icing is caused by the fuel evaporating causing the carb bodies to become freezing cold. Moisture...

Re: Need Help with my new SV

Sounds similar to a couple of issues I've had with my sv earlier this year. First time was an old plug cap on the rear plug causing it to only run on 1 above around 4000rpm. The second time it did...

Its not the dinosaur juice that evaporates it is the additives that are used instead of lead. The lovely carcinogenic things like toluene and benzene. These are very volatile and evaporate out of the...

Re: Low fuel efficiency, new rider, what to look for?

10 miles per litre equals 38mpg if you are using US gallons. If using proper English gallons then 10 miles per litre is 45mpg.
