Re: SK1 indicator mounting flanges & tank lift kit

Ah, cheers!

Image attached. Will have a dig around for some M6 capheads, unlikely I'll have anything in stainless or chrome but will find something :thumright:

SK1 indicator mounting flanges & tank lift kit

Just finishing up a rebuild to my 2001 650S and it seems i've lost (or they never existed) the mounting flanges for the front indicators.

Would anyone have a set kicking around?

In addition,...

Re: K1 locked pillion seat

Thanks for the tip, tried with an old coat hanger but failed miserably! I found a video on YouTube showing that it can be done by removing the 2x 10mm nuts under the seat.

10mins later seat was...

K1 locked pillion seat

Hi,

After a long period of being off the road, I've eventually managed to get my SK1 back together, all bar the front fairing and fuel tank.

However! It had been so long since I removed the...

Re: Slight misfire after 10 year layup

Panic over, the temporary fuel tank I was using had a blocked breather :smt081

Misfire is now gone, running as sweet as a new one :)

Now the brakes and MOT!

Re: Slight misfire after 10 year layup

Cheers for the tip!

Pulled the carbs tonight, both screws at approx. 2+1/4 turns
I took the bowls off and think there was a very small blockage in one of the small jets. (larger ones were clear,...

Re: Slight misfire after 10 year layup

Ah! Forgot!

I'll have a look later this evening. Spent the afternoon getting our digger going to dig out a blocked drain then midway through dug up the electrical supply to our bio...

Re: Slight misfire after 10 year layup

The problem seems to disappear somewhere between 3,000 and 4,000 rpm (when stationary, adjusting idle speed)

WD40 didn't seem to make any difference around intake boots or choke plungers but it's...

Re: Slight misfire after 10 year layup

Will check your various suggestions. It was garaged for the winter then in the spring the throttle shafts and brake calipers were seized. Getting married and moving house meant that it got pushed...

Slight misfire after 10 year layup

Got a secondhand set of carbs on my SV650s-K1 as the originals were in a bad state after 10 years lying up. New set of plugs and it started up pretty easy, water circulating & thermostat opening.

Re: Curvy K1 with diode bodge

Stripped the wire back and reconnected it, indicators working again!

In addition, checking the owners manual shows 2 diodes inside the relay, I suspect one of these must've short circuited so the...

Re: Curvy K1 with diode bodge

Ok, closer look says it's an orange wire with a green stripe. It goes into the back of what looks like a relay, beside the fuses.

Clutch and sidestand interlocks both working with the wire...

Clutch does, bike hasn’t been in gear since 2007 so not sure about side stand [emoji23]

Will check that today when I’m back in the garage, have exhaust to refit along with radiator and coolant. ...

Curvy K1 with diode bodge

Finally got my k1 curvy fired up today, been off the road for 12 years now. When removing the battery I found a wire broken off by the plug that goes into the back of the two relays under the seat. I...

Re: K1 starts but cuts out after a second or two.

As someone mentioned in another thread here, there is a JIS screwdriver in the toolkit under the seat (if you still have one)

Might speed things up for you!

Re: K1 starts but cuts out after a second or two.

You will need 2x Choke plunger O-rings Suzuki p/n 1327818E20 and bowl gaskets (rubber o-ring type) which will probably be in the carb repair kit, if not these are Suzuki p/n 1325833E00

Not got my...

K1 starts but cuts out after a second or two.

It’s surprisingly easy, it appears daunting at first glance!

I’ve got the carbs off mine (a K1) put them on and taken them off again without issue.

Once the tank and airbox is off the maze of...

Re: K1 starts but cuts out after a second or two.

Sounds like fuel may be ok if it’s firing up. If fuel getting to carbs then I’d guess stuck float needles.

Carbs off and a rebuild should help this.

One other thought

Does the engine stop...

Re: K1 carb refit after 4 years in storage

Decided to remove the carbs and refit the cable below the frame, glad I did - the choke cables were partially seized allowing only about 30% travel. All freed up now, waiting for new choke O-rings...

Re: Fuel cap upgrade- what are your thoughts?

Mine is unfortunately in a sad state after the storage. Was the powder coating expensive? My frame seems to be ok, but the headstock, subframe and lower forks are in a right state.

The tank cap...
