Where are you based I'd be interested in the stands.

Re: Suzuki engineers talk about developing the Gen 3 SV

Unpopular opinion coming.

I don't think the SV Seat is that bad at all.

Done a recent ride to London and back in the (Circa 250 miles) and I thought it was fine.
However I forgot how taxing...

Re: Life and warranties

I understand it's irritating when something doesn't work. Like you I'd probably want to fix it. Even if I didn't find it useful.

Lime I said previously I hope you do manage to find and correct...

Re: Life and warranties

Hope you manage to get it fixed. For 100 think I'd spend my money on something else and not worry about it.

I always go for 7th gear. Who cares. You know your in top gear and there's no more to...

Re: Throttle Body Synchronisation

It's nice to hear bikes with such high mileage. Most tend to be scrapped or binned before any use able life is had out of them.

My curvey 400 has 39'000 km on it. But it won't be getting much...

Re: SV650 loud clanking/ticking (video)

Has the op looked around the exhaust - I listened to this over the video and it does sound like a blow in the exhaust more than anything.
It sounds quite tinnie - Hard to tell on a video though.

Re: electric motorcycles

I guess you could claim that the average commute is 13 miles each way. So if the battery holds up 20 miles of the 26 mile round trip then technically the last 6 miles at 30mpg may well be close the...

Re: electric motorcycles

I don't know how you'd swap out the batteries. Have you seem how much a 24 kwh pack weighs. It's not light even in lithium chemistry.

Considering most batteries are now much bigger than that...

Re: electric motorcycles

I think electric bikes are a better idea than cars as rolling mass it much lighter. Meaning less batteries and an increase in watts per mile.

I had an electric bike which I made using brushless...

Re: Technology ...

Could it be that when the clutch is pulled in the ECU compensates by increasing rev's as a slight anti stall measure.

So how does the ECU do that? Does it just increase the amount of fuel going...

Re: Cadwell or Donny, 20th August

Donnington and also mallory are local to me so I've been looking to book in a date to take the sv400. I'll have even less power but that's not the point. It's about fun and honing your own skill :-)

Re: Who makes good leathers?

I think it's a case of making sure they fit well and you are comfortable in them.

I bought strada but got a full one piece that fitted correctly and i liked the look. Also the price was good as...

Re: RPM and speed not working - 2005 SV650S

If it was me I'd probably take the opportunity to install custom clocks that are a bit more interesting.
Think you can get them with sat nav built in etc now.

Re: Technology ...

I always thought that was a bit daft. I've generally only ever had carb bikes. If you wanted anti stall just increase the idle speed... same thing right :-)

Re: Technology ...

I'm sure you could wire it in a way you don't need to pull the clutch in.
Think I did that once when I had a remote start on a bike... Wasn't so great if you left it in gear though...

Re: Chain came off

Probably the shock of the loose chain on the sprockets finished it off when its skipped.

Re: Riding an SV

Depends what you want? If you want B line hooning or motorway.

When I used to commute I'd go up a tooth on the front. This was on a cb500. It would be slower off the mark but in terms of motorway...

Re: Painting Exhaust - Silencer Can

Silencers don't get anywhere near as hot as the headers. I guess the challenge would actually be getting a flat finish to the chrome exhaust.

I guess with any paint its all in the prep work!

Re: Riding an SV

I never worried about what gear I was in on a motorbike. Just up shift until there wasn't another gear. Drop gears as you slow down.

Took my dad a while to get used to that method in a bike. He...

Re: Riding an SV

I completely understand that but I can't imagine overall it makes that much of an impact in the real world. I might be completely wrong mind.

I know in the past when I've dropped one sprocket...

Re: Riding an SV

Will one tooth on the rear really make that much difference? Could understand if it was maybe 3?
I'll have to look up the gearing on one of those calculators.

In any case - I've mainly had...

Re: Replacement rear shock

Think most new shocks and springs would perform better than tired old units. If nothing else swapping it out might inspire some confidence.

Re: Anyone tried EBC "V" Semi-Sintered Pads

I'm not a huge fan of it. Prefer abs more on the rear as you load up the front brake and the rear lifts.

But I've only ever ridden mechanical ones that pulses quite strong. I quite like the fly...

Re: Gear Issues after crash

Probably just easier to buy a complete engine than mess about splitting the engine surely.
