Re: Caught a McLaren on my GSX yesterday

In spring last year I rode to Llyn Tegid at Bala, pulled into the lake car park and there were over a dozen McLarens parked up, must have been an owner's club meet or similar. Quite a sight.

In...

A look at life in 1971

Here's an ITV World In Action doco (https://youtu.be/zS1gdn6vAWc?si=AgW_uul2ox4SSHLa) from 1971, in which John Pilger focuses on the life of a dye mill worker in Sheffield.

An amazing look back...

Re: The All New Megathread

Morning Gary. No plans, and that's the way I like it it. Although I'd prefer it if the weather forecast was more promising.

As I'm a sad sort who makes a note of which days I've ridden on and...

That sounds like quite a handsome clock, are you planning to repair it?

Morning Gary - no fixed plans really, just general pottering. And that's the way I like it :)

Re: The All New Megathread

Beautifully bright and frosty here. A walk over Kerridge ridge beckons, but will wait for it to warm up a little first.

Arsenal vs the Toon tonight, and no fixed plans for Sunday.

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?

Got my insurance renewal quote through from Carole Nash. As a lot of people on the MotoUK subreddit have had ridiculous hikes in their premiums, I was steeling myself for an assault on my credit...

Re: The All New Megathread

That's the problem at this time of year. Despite the fact that the run-off is only about 30 feet across, the bike still gets filthy

Re: The All New Megathread

It was 15 celsius here (Macclesfield) yesterday! Pity it wasn't dry as it would've been nice to have a bike ride.

Re: Chain and sprocket replacement - what are my options?

I would think a 112-link chain should be fine if you go 1 extra tooth on the back.

Even on standard gearing I still occasionally find myself trying to change up to 7th gear after 5 years and 50K+...

Re: Chain and sprocket replacement - what are my options?

Hi and welcome - the standard gearing on the Gen 3 bikes is 15 / 46 and the chain is 112 links. I think you'd need a 114 link chain, but maybe double-check.

+3 on the rear would make the bike...

Re: The All New Megathread

Hope the knee's OK, Gary. Drizzly here and I'm seeing my consultant this afternoon, so I'm mostly staying indoors.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I've always argued myself out of heated grips / gloves because while I do ride in winter, I don't feel I ride often enough to merit the cost of them ... but if I did have them, I'd probably use them...

Re: The All New Megathread

Just back from a walk over to Kerridge waterfall, which was very nice. A bite to eat then watching a bit of kicksport on the telly.

Re: Brake fluid musings

I think in some climates with high humidity / high temperatures, brake fluid will go off quickly ... but not in the UK!

What was the actual medication? Wasn't Zoladex, by any chance?

Brake fluid musings

I last changed the brake fluid on my 2017 Gen 3 (with ABS) in December 2021. Yesterday I thought I'd check the condition of the fluid out of curiosity. The moisture level was still below 1%, which...

Re: Pain!

Ooof. If it's still bad tomorrow, some ibuprofen with codeine (Nurofen Plus) or Paramol should help. In the meantime, a large nightcap!

Still an amazing piece of recording and production. Putting Bonzo's drums in the giant hallway of Headley Grange and putting a couple of mics up on the first floor was pure genius. One of the most...

Re: My favourite 80s song

Roddy certainly knew (and knows) how to put a tune together. Seriously underrated guitarist too.
