If I read your post right you can start it by bypassing the starter switch circuit at the solonoid but not by doing the same at the actual switch?Sounds like that circuit must be faulty somewhere....

That sounds ominously possible especially if it is venting fuel when the tank is not full.However, it would also mean rainwater will be able to go the other way and contaminate the fuel in the tank....

ZX9R does not use the same caliper,at least the later ones dont.Ive got one and its a sliding job not an opposed job like the SV K1. I used to have a ZX6R and from memory that is not the same either....

Engine oil level correct? How often do you check it?
Did you find the ball bearing in the engine oil or somewhere else? The clutch worm drive or steering head come to mind.

The choke cables and the plungers where they enter the carbs should be very high up the list of suspects when a curvy runs badly. They need regular servicing but rarely get it.
