Re: 2000 Suzuki SV650 (Y) - Speedometer Not Working

the rotor in the wheel is plastic and can easily break the tabs off, which will make the speedo stop reading anything.

was the front tyre changed recently?

Re: How loud is too loud?

What a joke, Heathrow is about to change its flight paths and expose hundreds of thousands of people to far more noise than road vehicles make, all supported by Chris Grayling, at the same time he...

Re: Anyone tried EBC "V" Semi-Sintered Pads

SBS used to make a low friction version of their pads, specifically for use in the rear, for the reasons stated already. You would never use the low friction version in the front.

The one...

Re: Anyone tried EBC "V" Semi-Sintered Pads

The front wont be a problem with sintered, it wont make them feel grabby at all. But, the power will be there, without having to heave on the lever, makes for easier riding.

The rear in contrast,...

Re: Anyone tried EBC "V" Semi-Sintered Pads

I prefer the feel of organic in the rear, less bite and more control. For the front though, fully sintered is much better.

No problems with poor cold weather performance or excessive disk wear,...

Re: Throttle Body Tuning

If doing a valve clearance check is on your list, you should do that before you do the TB balance.

Re: Any Experience with Bike-Seal?

Tubeless is easier to change than tubed, a breaker really helps.

Don't bother with the internal tyre sealants, a good old fashioned external plug fitted properly is fine for many miles.

I've...

Re: Advice on getting my bike going after a long lay off

Decent tools and heat will help split the caliper, but they can be difficult (its probably not been touched in 20 years!)

My SV's fuel light stayed on permanently when the loom rubbed through by...

Re: Advice on getting my bike going after a long lay off

If the pins are that bad, you will probably find the pistons and seal grooves also need attention, which requires a caliper split.

I would just split the caliper anyway, you may need to cut the...

Re: sv1000's are now ULEZ exempt

NOX, nor CO2, are the full story. Diesels are terrible on particulates, which will be the next public health scare.

Bikes, in the grand scheme of things, have little impact. Banning the old ones...

Re: Converting Naked to faired?

I bought a faired for the looks, and when I rode a naked I wish I had bought that instead!

Ended up putting riser bars on my S, and retained the fairing because it was too much hassle to remove...

Re: Converting Naked to faired?

Welcome BigD, It would be a lot of hassle and cost, not worth it IMHO.

People usually go the other way, the faired ones are pretty common, nakeds not so much.

Re: Dash lights on battery dying

Carefully inspect the wiring loom as it passes under the tank hinge.

It is known to wear through to bare wires and short out, giving symptoms you describe.

Re: Stick or twist (repair or get rid)

If you need the money and don't mind doing the work, get a tank and sell it as a runner in the spring. Its not that hard to sort out, and could net you a few hundred for your time.

Otherwise sell...

Re: Fixing a jacket collar?

I've had success with gluing velcro with copydex glue. Both to its worn out opposite, and to leather.

Apply glue, hold together with a clamp overnight.

Not sure of your exact situation, but...

Re: Rear brake light switch

Take the right hanger off and get to it that way.

It may just need adjusting, or loosening up as they can corrode up.

Cheap enough to replace though.

Re: ABS Defeat Switch

It will affect insurance.

If I was minded to disable ABS, I would probably go for the fuses. Replace them with spade connectors & tails, which go off to your own fuse and switch system.

Re: Gearbox F**ked

Dont you just hate that, when both your bikes end up off the road at the same time.

Bad luck, but I tend to agree, another engine or write the poor bike off.

Re: SV1000 K3 FI light :(

+1 You need dealer mode. Short the 2 pins in the empty white connector under the seat, that will show you the code on the dash. Look it up, and go from there.
