Having had my Tornado for over 5 years, I'm ready for a change, so it's up for sale. It was purchased after many years of lusting after one, however I'm now ready to go back to something more...

Re: Underfloor heating, Yay or Nay?

We renovated our terrace house and installed water underfloor heating. There are advantages and disadvantages to it, however I'd say it was worth it. We have a stone floor downstairs which is...

Re: Bought a house before but now thinking of selling - best way to go about it?

Worth baring in mind that if you rent, you may end up with periods without a tenant. I had this happen, and it took 5 months to get another in.... that's 5 months of paying the mortgage on the rental...

Re: The Budget Thread

Rail fares are extortionate at times I have to agree, although when I used to commute by train & bus the annual cost was approximately half of what I now pay to travel by car, despite the fact that...

Red face Re: The Budget Thread

Pretty much all of the thing you've listed already have taxable allowances so you arent taxed on them. That does seem fair to me, so I agree with your point though. :)

Perhaps they wouldn't be quite as poor if they stopped. ;)

Re: Literally.

"Can I get?" I don't know, can you?

Do you mean "may I have" or "I would like" perhaps?

Re: Italian or British for reliabilty?

It's all a bit tongue in cheek really. Whilst the battery was a bit small on the Sprint, the alarm was the cause of the problems. The Nelli doesn't have one...

Re: Bike Tyres Leeds - free fitting on Michelin Tyres through Feb & March

I've used BTL before and been happy, same as with Woosters. My Dad did have an issue with BTL a few years ago however, when they failed to refit a spacer on his then Fazer, meaning that a bearing...

Sports Bike Tyres

I'm looking for recommendations for some tyres, but for my Benelli Tornado rather than an SV. As the Benelli forum is down, I thought I'd try on here to see what other sports bike riders are...

Italian or British for reliabilty?

Just been out to stick the Benelli on charge in case I get chance to use it at the weekend. Given it's not moved a wheel since about early October, I was quite suprised that it fired up first time...

Re: Recommend me a Daysack/Hydration System.

I use a Dueter Speed Lite 10 pack with a Source Widepac bladder. Great combo.

Re: Equine Insurance

The wife had a 4k claim but a couple of years ago, so price wise should have impacted on last year.
How claims are dealt with is important however, a cheap policy which won't pay out is no use!

Equine Insurance

Another non bike topic from me today (and a mini insurance rant to boot).

The Mrs has just had her renewal through from NFU, and it's shot up from last year with no change in...

Re: Winter tyres - yay or nay

As you said earlier, comes down to how dependent you are on using it to get around.

I'll put money on the Jag on 5th Gear not being on a set of summer tyres...

Re: Garage work on my car question.

If they do that, ask them to re-fit the original clutch and slave cylinder at their expense, as they replaced them without any good need due to mis-diagnosing the fault.

Re: Winter tyres - yay or nay

I use the same place as the in-laws for servicing/MOT etc. Last tyres I had were from these guys, good service and price.

Re: Winter tyres - yay or nay

Have to admit, I wish I could get them for around £60 a corner like I can for the MX5.

Maybe I ought to just take the in-laws approach, they just go to the local garage they use for all repairs,...

Re: Winter tyres - yay or nay

Nail, head, hit. ;)

That's my main concern, as that's what the conditions may well be like. The roads are often ploughed and gritted, thus bloody slippery!

Re: Winter tyres - yay or nay

It is a fairly early one, same as your's is a fairly late one.

If you could look it would be good thanks, cheers, and thanks to all that have offered opinions and advice so far.

Re: Winter tyres - yay or nay

They probably would suffice, however which winter tyre to get isn't quite the question. There are a few options of winter tyres available in the right size, including the Nokian's from an earlier...
