Re: Destroy the BBC!

I can't see that being an issue, advertisements are all done through contracts and have guidelines to abide by.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

No tinkering as such today, but a test ride after the new Stator was fitted.

So far the good news is the voltage appears to be stable and the bike running well. Although it wasn't a long ride...

Re: Destroy the BBC!

I agree regarding Amazon for shopping & streaming. Some shows/movies do have adverts if funded/supplied by IMDB though (only very few of what i have found so far).
If the shops were any good at...

Re: Destroy the BBC!

Perhaps they will adapt it more to the model of Channel 4, which personally i think is better.
Sure, i'm not a fan of adverts but if that means there's more cash flow from advertising to produce...

Re: Leather!

AA is still a good level, and is what most good textile jackets achieve. Usually for AAA (IIRC) it is the 'slide test' which most fail on, as the abrasion resistance at that level is really high. ...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

of course. Deflection/distraction is what they do to stop you looking at the real issues.

The Borders Bill has tried to be buried by other things when that's come around in the news.

Re: Leather!

Whatever you buy, check the protection it offer on the scale of A-AAA. And check what armour it comes with. D3O ideally is what you want to have as standard, or upgrade to.

Re: Smart Motorways

By educating drivers how to properly drive on a road in a manner that creates flowing traffic.

Drive in the correct lane - unless over taking be as far left as possible
Lane hogging - increases...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?

Show them what others are paying for your position and that there are opportunities out there . . . . and that you're open to change for a wage that pays.

Re: Smart Motorways

On a single lane road, everyone behind you has no choice except to stop . . . & usually most single lane roads have a place to pull to safety (Path, grass verge, turning etc). That's a safe place to...

Re: Smart Motorways

There was an MP (A Tory one IIRC) who was part of/petitioning for the lowering of Motorway speed limits (this was some time ago - it featured on TG) & would you believe no Motorways went through his...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?

SOTD is a Job promotion & decent pay bump. Much needed after waiting months for it to appear.

Re: Highway Code changes

The elevated driving position & the big mirrors would be great, for drivers who utilise them to their advantage. However, it is simply a fashion statement for those who buy them. Most are a reverse...

Re: Highway Code changes

i agree to some extent about being considerate/patient, however people need to be aware of how their driving affects others on the road. The volume of incompetent driving is getting worse - i'm...

Re: Leather!

Based on your seasons, i'd say you want something that is more warm weather orientated (vented/perforated). And then go down the 'modular' route for when you need it to be warmer/weatherproof. EG a...

Re: Leather!

A couple of questions;

What season(s) do you mostly ride in?
What features do you need/want the jacket to have?
What's your budget/ideal spend for the Jacket/trousers?

With it being winter/crappy weather...

Re: Gen 3 valve clearance checking after 32K miles

i really wouldn't bother. Unless you are someone who is regularly and consistently riding the bike in the upper end of the rev range, they should be fine. Unless there are running issues making you...
