Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Not sure, I have no trouble with a rubber strap type wrench.

The Spark plugs however are a proper PITA, but I think that's common on most inline engines these days

Re: Do loud pipes save lives?

Only a matter of time before the KTM/Husqvarna TPI system makes it to the road, I mean as a road going bike -not an enduro converted to Supermoto

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Coolant change on the big Tracer, I'm assuming the stuff in it was from new.

Not far off oil change too so that's the last maintenance job for a while. Brake lines getting changed this winter :p

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?

Re: Bpw 2020

Just realised that my Belfast - Birkenhead sailing will be on the new Stena EDDA. Overnight sailing with a cabin so won't see much of it I suspect

Re: Do loud pipes save lives?

That's a good point, DRLs are ever more prevalent on bikes. My bike has them as standard + I added one of my own too.

Seems a bit like fighting fire with fire

Re: Do loud pipes save lives?

Definitely more noticeable but I would argue this is situational, it's not infalliable. The same logic I would apply to hi-viz, effectiveness relies on being actively looked for (and in an age where...

Do loud pipes save lives?

Based on a FB post by Bennetts regarding E-Bikes and the subsequent neanderthal responses about noise. (I'm firmly in the NO camp)

Do they?

Re: No shims on new style front calipers

Strange as the origin of shims was to aid prevention of squeal not cause it. EBC et al don't instruct anyone to apply greases to shims or pads..

I think a lot of this copper grease stuff is due to...

Re: No shims on new style front calipers

All it would do is dampen the noise, not cure the reason for the squeal. Contamination, misalignment, poor maintenance etc

Re: No shims on new style front calipers

I don't know anything about eating or swelling of seals but I've never read a service manual that recommends putting copper grease/slip anywhere near brake pads. (I'm even looking at a service manual...

Re: Thoughts on the GS ?

IMO part of that is more electronics and looms to squeeze into ever narrowing spaces as is the trend of underslung exhausts, secondary to keeping their immense bulk worth of cat converters low

Re: Thoughts on the GS ?

^When the 1250 based range was announced social medias was awash with comments like " Well, if it's not 160HP I'm not buying it" The 1250 gained 25HP or so over the 1200 but lost 15NM torque at the...

Re: RIP Norton?

Couldn't be many engine builders working on 1200 lumps, they had to go back to the Aprilia 1000 to be able to run at IOM
