Re: Voting

It's a tough call but to protect against authoritarianism you need a functioning democracy and if only 1 in 5 people are voting it's not functioning as it should.
We live in a society which protects...

Voting

Local turnout in Grimsby was 22%. Pathetic. Should voting me mandatory?

If democracy is important to us, the least we can do is vote, it's not much of a burden.

What did the Brits ever do for us?

We Brits have been bashed a lot recently, some of it justified, but we have done good stuff too:

Looking at (some of) what did the Brits do for us from a science/tech viewpoint. (15 min vid by an...

Variable compression engine

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Threadlock. If there's a world shortage of threadlock it's because Suzuki used it all on my GSX passenger footrests. :x

Re: It's HMRC gripe time again

Yes, only 9 minutes but never got through. I was expecting a 40+ min wait but at least I would have spoken to someone. I wrote a letter instead. If (when) that doesn't generate a response I'll call...

It's HMRC gripe time again

Just tried to call them. 9 minutes of automated blather then: "We are experiencing technical issues and are unable to continue with your call, please call again later".

F1 owners bought MotoGP

I don't follow racing anymore so it doesn't bother me. I looked at a 3 day pass (Silverstone) for F1 and it's £340 versus £110 for MotoGP so that doesn't bode well.
I used to like (bike) racing for...

Re: Gsx-8R

Will do, although I won't be getting them fitted immediately.

One thing I didn't mention about my dealer visit was the interesting (to me) bikes he'd taken in p/x:

Gsx-8R

Our ride today took us near my Suzuki dealer so we popped in for me to look at the GSX-8R. I like it better than the 8S, the front end looks much neater. When I sat on one it wasn't an extreme...

Caught a McLaren on my GSX yesterday

I suppose, in the spirit of full disclosure, I should add it was stopped at a railway crossing. It was just sat there emitting vast quantities of heat rearwards and a loudish burble noise. Which...
