Re: 2001 SV650 Engine Diagnostic Help

If you have found play in the main bearings in short, that engine is done I'm sorry to say.

If you were to continue to run the engine it will get worse as it wears more. At the moment other parts...

Re: 2001 SV650 Engine Diagnostic Help

From your videos the tension on the front cam chain looks fine. Yes there is a little more slack in the rear but there wasnt any rock in the cam shaft when you pressed the chain so I wouldn't be so...

Re: 2001 SV650 Engine Diagnostic Help

Re: 2001 SV650 Engine Diagnostic Help

Its never easy to diagnose an engine fault from a video clip over the internet, but I've heard SV engines like that before and its not been a good outcome. However to be sure you will have to strip...

Re: SV not running right

Hard to be sure from remote diagnostics, but I would suspect an air leak at some point. If you have balanced the carbs are you sure that you've blanked off the balance connectors fully and there are...

Re: Trx 850

Rode a mates TRX many years ago. Was very impressed with it. Good power and handling and it felt small. Downside I found was it wasn't that comfortable in the seat. But on the plus side very ripe for...

Re: 99 sv650n worm drive failure?

It seizes and snaps your clutch cable 60 miles from home.

As the above, go through the adjustment routines and lube the worm up good.

Re: Fuel tank refresh- torque settings?

Its your bike and your choice, however from experience every bike I've found tat like that on I've found enough other things to make me think the previous owner should have their tools taken away...

Re: Fuel tank refresh- torque settings?

Fixed for you, no charge.

No. If you're going to go for carbon it should only be the real stuff, and even then carbon should be known and not seen.

Re: Project: 500GP

Well it looks like I haven't been working on the bike, and well yes that is correct. However in my defence I have had a reasonable reason that will all become clear in a later update. In summary...

Re: ODB2 Reader For My Phone

As an update I've got one and not got one.

I thought these readers were expensive, but it must have been a while since I looked. After chatting to someone at work I got recommended a MaxiScan...

Re: Just add lightness

Depends on what you class as "massive hp gains", what you want from your bike, and how much money you want to spend?

There is lots that can be done to the engine. Cam swaps, porting, flowing, big...

Re: Want to see inside my SV engine...?

Its nice to see people taking an interest in how engines work, and particularly using a SV for demonstration. However, the explanation of how the engine starts could in my opinion do with some...

Re: Project sv650

Yes I believe you will still need 2 pipes presuming you are using the standard fuel pump and carbs.

The first pipe is the fuel delivery pipe. The second is the vacuum pipe. Without a vacuum I...

Re: Project sv650

The short answer is no.

That remote tank is intended for temporary use in the garage where you want to fire up the bike but still have easy access to the engine without having the tank on the...

Re: Let's customise the SV650 AL7

Its not my style but I can appreciate it, looks like a lot of work went into it.

Far better than a bike with a pipe and some stubby levers that's classed as "customised"...
